00:00What one man's 40-year habit can teach us all about the future generations.
00:04Imagine standing in the middle of a vast, cracked wasteland.
00:07No shade, no birdsong, no life.
00:11Now imagine returning 30 years later and standing inside a dense, breathing forest.
00:16One man did exactly that.
00:18Not a government, not a corporation.
00:20One man, one shovel, one seed at a time.
00:24Deforestation, climate change, and soil erosion
00:27have turned millions of acres of land across the world into desert.
00:31Once fertile ground becomes barren,
00:33crops fail, water dries up, communities collapse.
00:37Most people look at ruined land and see the end.
00:40But visionaries like Jadav Payeng of India
00:43looked at the same wasteland and saw a beginning.
00:46In 1979, a teenage Jadav noticed dead snakes
00:51washing up on a sandbar on the Brahmaputra River,
00:54killed by the heat and lack of shade.
00:57Heartbroken, he began planting bamboo alone.
01:00No funding, no team, no guarantee it would work.
01:04Day after day, year after year, he returned and planted.
01:09He didn't wait for permission.
01:11He didn't wait for someone else to fix it.
01:14Over 40 years, he transformed 1,360 acres of barren land
01:19into a thriving forest,
01:21home to elephants, tigers, rhinos, and hundreds of bird species.
01:26Today, it's called Molai Forest, named after him.
01:30What can we learn from Jadav?
01:32The future is shaped by what we choose today.
01:35Jadav didn't plant trees for himself.
01:37He planted them for the animals, the generations, the climate,
01:41for people he would never meet.
01:43One person, four decades, 1,360 acres of living, breathing forest.
01:49The question isn't whether you can make a difference.
01:51The question is, what barren land in your world are you willing to plant in?
01:57One man.
01:58One forest.
01:59What's your story?
