00:00Well, thank you for joining us so much today. When people think of Aardman, they often think first about the
00:04animation, but the music is such an important part of it, too. How much does the score add to the
00:10emotion, the comedy and the storytelling?
00:13Oh, it's just so important. I think either without the other elements just wouldn't work, would it? So from Julian
00:23Knotts' original score for A Grand Day Out, for instance, that amazing, iconic theme tune for Wallet and Gromits.
00:30I mean, I think probably people world over would recognise that, wouldn't they? And yeah, the scores are so important.
00:39If you've ever looked at animation without any music, you'll just see it can change the mood completely.
00:47The Homer comes in for a real treat. What can audiences expect from A Night Out with Aardman?
00:52OK, so this is the 50th anniversary of Aardman, which is really quite hard to believe, isn't it?
00:58Since Morph and Vision On, that we all remember, obviously.
01:03So to celebrate their 50th anniversary, we have actually created a brand new score, five and a half minute score,
01:11which Aardman have then added a clip to, to span that whole period.
01:17So the whole concert starts off with that, which is a brand new piece, as I say.
01:22Then we've got some Wallet and Gromit montages.
01:25So we see some chase scenes from all the films that they've been in.
01:30Sean the Sheep. We may well have a little visit from Sean on the stage himself.
01:34So again, we've got some, some video, especially made video clips,
01:39showing him right from when he first appeared in A Close Shave.
01:43So it's really important that we show our amazing musicians.
01:46They're all in costume. Aardman-inspired costumes.
01:49So we've got Wendorleens, Paella Bakewell, Gromit, Wallaces.
01:54It just looks incredible.
01:56The show is part of the 50th anniversary celebrations for Aardman.
02:00What does that milestone mean?
02:02And why is this such a fitting way to celebrate it?
02:05Well, we, as a company, Carrot Productions, have worked with Aardman since 2019,
02:09since we did a performance, well, a tour of Musical Marvels.
02:14And we've been working with them ever since to create more live performances of their films.
02:21So it just seemed like a natural partnership for us to create this one-off,
02:27very special show to commemorate their 50th.
02:30And there's two performances as well, a matinee and an evening.
02:33Tell us about where they can see you.
02:36Yeah. So actually, Birmingham gets the premiere.
02:40The world premiere is coming to Birmingham Town Hall.
02:44Which is amazing.
02:45So there's a performance.
02:47The first performance is at 1.30 and then there's one at 6.30.
02:51Well, it sounds absolutely magical and they're certainly for a treat.
02:54And I wish you all the best with your tour.
02:56Thanks so much.
02:57And I wish you guys, bye.
03:00Bye.
