00:00Hello, today we are going to talk about a story which sounds very simple but its
00:05The meaning is very deep
00:07This is the story of a saint, a woman and an entire village, and it makes us think.
00:13It will reveal what is the real meaning of what we call character.
00:16So let's start with a very simple but thought-provoking question.
00:23We do
00:23The question is whether any person can be characterless alone. Just think about this because this
00:31That's the question that lies at the root of this entire story.
00:34So let's go to the first scene of the story where our two main characters meet and their
00:40A conversation takes place that changes everything.
00:43Imagine a well-known saint who comes to a village to beg for alms. His purpose is very simple.
00:50But perhaps even he did not realize that his arrival would have an impact on the thinking of the people of that village.
00:57raises serious questions
00:58And then a woman from the village comes to him; she has not come just to give alms, she has something in her heart.
01:05There is a question she wants answered; she asks a question that is probably on the minds of many people.
01:11I would have come but no one dares to ask her directly.
01:16You are so beautiful, why have you become a saint now?
01:19In response to this simple question, the monk presented his entire perspective.
01:24He told her that this world, these things, everything is only a moment.
01:29His answer wasn't just about beauty, it was a big truth.
01:33He said, I know that nothing lasts forever in this world
01:38I'm looking for something that lasts forever, that is eternal.
01:43This was the essence of his path, his life.
01:47These words of the saint had a deep impact on that woman.
01:50She was so impressed by his knowledge that she invited him to dinner at her house as a gesture of respect.
01:56And this small invitation for dinner takes the story to a completely different turn.
02:02The focus now shifts from the conversation between the sage and the iron to the decision of the villagers.
02:08And this is where the real conflict of the story begins.
02:11The monk was just resting under a tree after eating his meal.
02:15That's when some people from the village came there to Adam's house.
02:18There was a strange tension in the air.
02:21And the villagers make those direct accusations.
02:25He says, Maharaj, why did you eat food at that person's house?
02:28She is very characterful
02:30Now look, it wasn't just that method that was being pointed at.
02:33In a way, this was also a question on the wisdom of the saint.
02:37Now the story reaches its most important stage.
02:40Here the sage is going to teach a big lesson through a very simple act.
02:46Even after hearing this accusation, the saint is not at all disturbed.
02:50He remains completely calm and calls one of them to him.
02:54The monk simply takes the man's hand in his and holds it tightly.
03:00It was a very quiet act but so effective that it caught everyone's attention.
03:05And then the sage presents the man with a simple but impossible challenge.
03:12He says now show me how to clap with one hand.
03:15This was the moment that turned the story around.
03:20As expected, the man responds in surprise.
03:24Maharaj, how can this happen? Without the other hand, one cannot clap.
03:28His straightforward and truthful answer sets the stage for the sage's final lesson.
03:34And now we move on from the story to the powerful lesson
03:39which has a very deep meaning
03:41So what does it mean when we use the word character?
03:45Is this just one person's story or is it as this story tells us?
03:49Can this happen to the entire society?
03:51At this point, the sage makes his most powerful statement, which is the crux of the entire story.
03:57They say a woman cannot be a character alone.
04:01And here again the sadhu connects a simple act like clapping with big issues of character and faults.
04:08give
04:08His point was very clear: clapping cannot be done with one hand; it requires two hands.
04:14So what do we learn from this whole story? Here are some very important things.
04:20First of all, what we call character is not just a person's own thing.
04:26would not have been
04:26Society creates it, society destroys it, secondly, it is the society itself that creates such situations where
04:34someone can be held guilty
04:35Meaning, how did the responsibility fall on one person?
04:37This has happened to everyone, right?
04:39And the biggest thing
04:40If a person is being called characterless
04:43So what about the character of the men of that village?
04:45That too should be questioned.
04:47So the most important message of the story is this.
04:50that social character is not that of any one person
04:53But everyone has a shared responsibility.
04:56And as we go, this analysis
04:59leaves with one last question
05:01When we point a finger at someone
05:03So do we ever pay attention to those three fingers?
05:06that are pointing towards us
05:08With this thought, we end today's discussion here.
05:12Thank you
