01:00Tonight, we welcome you to celebrate with us this endeavor
01:04at the fifth anniversary of the Red Sea International Film Festival.
01:08So welcome.
01:09And hayyakumallah.
01:16Over the past five years, the Red Sea Film Foundation has quietly, but surely,
01:21built what many once thought was impossible,
01:24more than just a foundation and more than a festival.
01:28an ecosystem where filmmakers from across the three continents
01:32were not only supported but empowered to lead
01:35a fund that to date had backed 330 bold visions
01:40labs that molded 81 films and 23 series
01:44a SWUC that accelerated 128 projects
01:48and in the process enabled thousands of creators
01:51who have chosen film and storytelling as their colleague
01:55and finally a festival that unites the world through story
02:00in that process we have also made profound impact
02:04as we saw seven films that were supported by the foundation
02:07end up to be chosen by their home countries
02:10as submissions to the academy awards
02:12an attestation not just to the scale of the support
02:15of the foundation it offers
02:17but also the quality and rigor of the process that we have adopted
02:21seven films born of different cultures
02:25written in different languages
02:27shaped by different memories yet united by one conviction
02:31their stories deserve to be seen by the world
02:35and the world is finally paying attention
02:44that ever elusive attention that we all seek
02:47it doesn't escape any of us here tonight
02:50that the world of cinema is changing
02:52streaming has transformed audience habits
02:55technology is accelerating faster than ever
02:58for many this moment has brought uncertainty
03:01a sense that the ground is shifting
03:04between the traditional structures of storyteller
