00:00In Escape to Jekyll, you use this historical backdrop for Talley's new beginning.
00:04What is it about the gems of the Golden Isles that makes it the perfect setting for a story about
00:08healing and self-discovery?
00:09Jekyll Island is a very special little island.
00:13Only a small part of it is developed, and it's a state park.
00:15They can't develop it anymore.
00:17And so the entire island, to some degree, begs reflection.
00:21You know, you are one with nature when you're there.
00:24You are, all of the activities you need to do, riding bikes on paths through the marsh, walking on the
00:31beach, all those things.
00:32It makes you think.
00:34And that historic hotel and those villas that belong to the millionaires from the Gilded Age, it's all, it's a
00:40thought-provoking place to be.
00:42And it is absolutely, it's the kind of place that makes you figure out where you want to be forever
00:50and what direction you're going.
00:52And I've always wanted to write fiction, and I was a newspaper reporter and a lobbyist and then a wedding
00:58planner, and I've always been paid to write the whole time.
01:00I never got to write what I wanted to write.
01:02And I knew from the minute we decided to move to Jekyll Island that I was going to write fiction
01:07about it when I got there.
01:08It just inspires me.
