00:39We had very, very high mice numbers in here last year
00:43and we've managed to knock them back to zero
00:46and sustain that for a number of months now.
00:49And now we have the predator-proof fence up
00:52and there's no sign of mice within the fence
00:54so these guys have got a much better future ahead of them.
01:11With 30 or 40 animals, by the time you include the eight
01:14that are here at the zoo, that's usually considered
01:16about the minimum but adequate for a genetic recovery
01:19of a population.
01:20And in fact, many species have been recovered
01:22from far smaller numbers.
01:23So although it's not ideal, it certainly should be enough.
01:25We're trying to pretend to be enough.
