Baz Luhrmann treats the King less like a museum piece and more like a live wire. The big hook is not a dramatic plot twist. It’s the sound and the material. Supposedly lost-and-found clips, huge world hits, and a presentation that wants to make you notice the details you usually miss when you’re streaming at 2x speed.
This is basically a concert movie built for people who actually want to hear it properly. If you’re a fan of Elvis, you’re already halfway sold. If you’re not, you’ll still get why everyone keeps coming back to that voice. And yeah, the numbers are solid. 86% Rotten Tomatoes, 88 Metascore. Not bad for a night that’s mostly about music doing its thing. ---------- Baz Luhrmann holt Elvis Presley aus dem Museum der sicheren Klassiker und macht daraus ein Konzert, das sich anfühlt wie „okay, das war doch nicht im Fernsehen“. EPiC: ELVIS PRESLEY IN CONCERT verspricht vor allem eines: unbekanntes Material, nie zuvor gesehene Aufnahmen und Songs, die schon beim ersten Refrain die Decke wegdrücken. Dazu kommt eine Tonqualität, die offenbar nicht nur hübsch ist, sondern wirklich nach „hör mal genauer“ schreit.
Der Film ist weniger Biografie, mehr Bühne. Wenn du Elvis liebst, ist das dein Kinoabend. Wenn du denkst, du kennst alles, wirst du trotzdem kurz irritiert sein, wenn „verloren geglaubte“ Sequenzen auftauchen. Rotten Tomatoes und Metascore reden zumindest dafür, dass hier nicht nur Glitzer draufgepappt wurde.
