00:04These women from Delhi's Lady Sriram College are protesting over what they say is their
00:09principal's appearance in a political party's video.
00:14Here's what happened. On April 13, 2026, the BJP posted a video on its official Instagram page
00:21featuring LSA principal Dr. Kanika Ahuja.
00:24The woman's reservation bill is a constitutional course correction.
00:27She spoke in support of the Women's Reservation Bill, also called the Nari Shakti Vandan Athenium.
00:34It reflects the shift from women's development to women-led development.
00:39Soon after, on April 15, students began protesting, saying the move went against LSA's apolitical stance
00:46and reflected a wider pattern of saffronization on campus.
00:51A student told Mo that when the principal briefly addressed them on April 15,
00:56she said the video had been posted without her consent, but that the views expressed were in her personal capacity
01:03as an individual.
01:04But the students reportedly argued that they object to the fact that the principal appeared on a political party's platform
01:10while being identified with the college.
01:13The student also told Mo that the protests were called unconstitutional and alleged,
01:18increased surveillance after the protest, including cameras being used to photograph them,
01:24along with ID checks, roll number collection and alleged threats of consequences.
01:29The students say their protest is about keeping the college neutral and protecting its public identity.
01:35They clarify that the protest isn't against the bill,
01:38but against the principal's comments being shared via a BJP-linked video.
01:42They are seeking its removal, public clarification, condemnation of harassment and assurance
01:48that no student will face action or have their identity used without consent.
01:53A student later told Mo that a meeting with four members of the administration had assured protesters
01:58that the principal would hear them on 20th April.
02:01As of now, there has been no official clarification from the college.
