Christmas has a body count. A kid witnesses his parents get murdered by a guy in a Santa suit, and you can feel the movie locking in on one idea. Trauma isn’t just background noise here. It turns into a twisted sense of “justice,” and eventually the revenge doesn’t stay theoretical.

At some point, the red suit gets pulled on for real, and the Advent calendar stops being cute. It becomes a countdown to more terror. Then the film does what these stories always promise. It ramps up the hunting. A small town turns into the new playground, where the “bad” and “naughty” are treated like targets with a deadline.

Is it subtle? Definitely not. Is it entertaining in a mean, holiday-violent kind of way? Also yes.

Weihnachten, aber mit Blut im Geschenkpapier. Der Film setzt bei einem Kind an, das miterlebt, wie seine Eltern von einem „Weihnachtsmann“ umgebracht werden. Klingt nach Albtraum. Ist auch einer. Und dann passiert das Schlimmste: Aus dem traumaangetriebenen Schmerz wird eine Art schiefes Gerechtigkeitssystem, bei dem der rote Anzug als Eintrittskarte zur eigenen Rache dient.

Spätestens wenn der Adventskalender nicht mehr Tage zählt, sondern Nächte des Terrors anspuckt, versteht man den Vibe: Eine kleine Stadt wird zum Jagdrevier. Die „Unartigen“ und „Bösen“ zahlen den Preis. Was das Ganze sein will, ist klar: ein kompromissloser Slasher im Weihnachtskostüm. Ob das charmant ist? Na ja. Aber es ist zumindest konsequent. Ruhig gruselig und ziemlich unverfroren.
