00:00Syria, under the al-Sharah regime, has never fired a shot at Israel, quite the opposite.
00:06President al-Sharah has said time and time again, there are no issues with Israel.
00:10We don't want an adversarial issue with Israel.
00:14We don't want to be at war with Israel.
00:16We want to work towards a non-aggression agreement and a normalization agreement.
00:20Israel has taken the point of view that the Druze in southern Israel and along the Syrian
00:34border are actually cousins of Israel.
00:37So the history of the Druze is another tormented topic.
00:42So at the beginning, if you remember the El Swaida incidents, which were very, very difficult
00:49at the beginning of the al-Sharah regime, led the Israelis to come across the border to
00:53protect the newfound Israeli cousins who were Druze.
01:02Netanyahu is very clear on all of his borders that after October 7th everything has changed.
01:07He doesn't care about borders.
01:08He doesn't care about boundaries.
01:09He doesn't care about the 67 borderline.
01:11He doesn't care about the 74 borderline.
01:13He doesn't care about the December 8th line.
01:18Syria was brilliant in not engaging in that fight.
01:22So the incursions are constant.
01:24Israel is coming across those lines every time they see a convoy because there's still no
01:31trust between the two entities as to can they rely on the Syrian military establishment,
01:37the internal military, the external military to actually create a calm barrier.
01:47In my opinion, in our opinion, Syria has been brilliant in not engaging adversarially against
01:54Israel.
01:55There's no purpose in it.
01:57They have time and time again said we're available to talk.
02:01I was privileged on behalf of the president to lead five discussions which were incredible
02:08between Foreign Minister Shabani, who's a brilliant young man, and Ron Dermer on behalf of Prime
02:14Minister Netanyahu.
02:16We got very close.
02:18It evaporated.
02:19We set up a fusion.
02:20We're still having discussions.
02:21The Syrians have showed tremendous patience.
02:26But in all of these instances, we're dealing with five countries on five borders, two seas,
02:33and in the minutes we have a war.
02:35So it's a time out from these conversations.
02:36We'll get there.
02:37My bet is we'll get to a non-aggression and normalization agreement with Syria sooner than
02:42Lebanon.
02:43We'll get to a non-aggression.
