Roman Egypt. No traffic. No help. Just a remote village that has time to panic properly. A carpenter, his wife, and their kid get pulled into a supernatural conflict that doesn’t care about family trees or good intentions. The boy is known as “the Boy” and he’s not exactly convinced by his guardian, “the Carpenter.” Reasonable suspicion, honestly. So he pushes back. Then he starts using mysterious abilities, and suddenly the movie turns from “creepy vibes” into “natural and divine horrors on schedule.”

This is the kind of horror that mixes faith-fuel and dread, with the home front doing most of the damage. You’ll spend a lot of time watching a family react to powers they can’t control, while the surrounding world feels like it’s praying to the wrong thing.

Yeah, the scores are… not great. (31% RT, Metascore 40.) Still, if you like your horror religious, weird, and a little stubborn about explaining itself, this one might be your problem.

Römisches Ägypten. Abgelegenes Dorf. Und natürlich glaubt hier jeder zuerst an Holzarbeiten und erst danach an das Böse. Ein Zimmermann, seine Frau und ihr Kind geraten in den Sog eines spirituellen Kriegs, den man weder verhandeln noch wegdiskutieren kann. Der Junge, der im Alltag nur „der Knabe“ ist, spürt früh, dass mit dem „Beschützer“ nicht alles sauber läuft. Also testet er Grenzen. Mit Kräften, die er nicht wirklich versteht, und mit Konsequenzen, die sehr real sind.

Das Ding ist weniger Horror im Kino-Sinne, mehr Mythos mit Staub auf der Zunge. Es setzt auf Atmosphäre, auf religiöse Albträume und auf diese herrlich unangenehme Familien-Dynamik: Wer schützt wen, wenn die Welt spirituell komplett durchdreht? Rotten Tomatoes wirkt, als hätte da jemand an der Schwelle zur Verwirrung gestoppt, aber wer Bock auf unruhige Bilder hat, schaut trotzdem hin.
