00:00Ten years ago today, the Masters witnessed one of the most brutal ever meltdowns.
00:05For the seven holes to play on Sunday, Jordan Spieth held a one-shot lead and his 2015 green jacket
00:11was already being prepped to go back on his shoulders.
00:14But Augusta National has a way of injecting drama into the proceedings and for Spieth, the track was set on
00:21the iconic par 3-12 hole.
00:23It was the splash heard around the world. His one-shot lead vanished.
00:27Most pros would take the drop, hit the green and walk away with a double bogey at most.
00:34This was where the young American made the fatal mistake of compounding one error with another.
00:4080 yards out with just a wedge in hand, Spieth made ground contact two inches behind the ball, his shot
00:47barely making the water, submerging itself once again in raised creek.
00:51A quadruple bogey seven ensued and in 15 minutes, Spieth went from a one-shot lead to a three-shot
00:59deficit and the damage was irreparable.
01:02With Danny Willett waiting in the wings, Spieth had to watch on as his hopes of a second Masters victory
01:08evaporated in front of his eyes.
01:10His face said it all as he helped the Englishman slide on the iconic green jacket in front of the
01:15Augusta patrons.
01:17And since that day, Spieth has gone on to win tournaments, even major championships.
01:21But the near invincibility that once surrounded him has never returned.
01:25The end.
01:25The end.
01:26The end.
