00:00Obviously, it's WrestleMania season, and everyone has a lot of focus on the WWE, but
00:05AEW's pay-per-view certainly commended a lot of attention.
00:09The problem is that they may have set the bar a little too high for themselves.
00:14Still an amazing night, but let's talk about it.
00:28So, yes, AEW Dynasty going down in Canada, out in Vancouver, on Sunday night.
00:36First of all, love me a good Sunday pay-per-view.
00:39I know Saturday has kind of become the thing, but there was something about getting ready
00:43on Sunday during the day, watching the Raptor game for a little bit.
00:46I'm just like, you know what, this is what Sunday was.
00:49You know, you kind of live your day on Sunday, get stuff ready for the next week, and then
00:52at the end of the night, boom, pay-per-view is on, let's go have some wrestling.
00:57I just, I liked it.
00:58And now, I liked it better with WWE, because you have Raw on Monday, and you just get to
01:03go right into it.
01:04But still, there's something a little nostalgic about a Sunday pay-per-view.
01:07And it was, it was a really, really good show.
01:10I do think they've set the bar a little too high for themselves as of late.
01:14And I don't know if they got to that high of a level.
01:17And I'm not just talking about like the blood and guts stuff on pay-per-view and the death
01:21matches and everything there, but just the quality of in-ring competition that they have
01:24had on Dynamite has been a lot for them to kind of live up to.
01:30And this show, again, had some amazing in-ring work.
01:33But it just, because of the level that they have set on Dynamite, it just, it felt like
01:37a really, really good episode of Dynamite, which I don't think is what you want from your
01:41pay-per-view, especially when you've just had one.
01:43So it's, it's tough because they, they have obviously made an effort to try to set that
01:49bar high for themselves this year.
01:52And I think on the last pay-per-view, you were able to get a few things kind of manufactured
01:56with like, uh, Copeland coming back and a couple of other big returns and debuts and stuff like
02:01that.
02:02And this one, honestly, like with MJF making his way up to the stage at the end of the night,
02:05I was kind of expecting, okay, here comes big reveal.
02:08I don't know who it's going to be, but big reveal.
02:10And then he just kind of goes down and that's the end of the show.
02:13And again, it's a good show.
02:14It's a really good show.
02:16But there was just part of me that was like, hmm, that's not normally what AEW does on,
02:21on pay-per-view.
02:22So, um, just a couple of thoughts I had there, but overall, like the main event, we're not
02:27going to get into the whole card.
02:28Um, just to be perfectly honest, haven't watched the whole thing yet.
02:32Uh, kind of joined it in progress on Sunday.
02:33Uh, and so want to, to kind of get a feel for how everything else was, but want to talk
02:37about
02:37the main event, I do think MJF winning makes a lot of sense.
02:40I think there are just more options right now for him when we did that whole thing where
02:45it was Swerve and MJ, or not MJF, sorry, Swerve and Omega and Hangman all kind of standing
02:50around looking for their title shot.
02:52Um, you kind of saw laid out what the next few months were going to look like for MJF.
02:58Now having Darby Allen win the number one contender match early in the night, I think that
03:01kind of made it make a bit more sense too.
03:04Kenny Omega, it kind of struck me like he's walking down to the ring.
03:07He has the old music.
03:08He's standing there and no, he is not what he once was.
03:11You had a bit of a stumble, um, early on in this match, still phenomenal, like still one
03:14of the best wrestlers in the world, but it did kind of hit like, man, this was, this
03:18was one of the best wrestlers on the planet.
03:21And I think it, you could start to have the conversations of where he fits in all time
03:26in professional wrestling in terms of in ring ability and everything like that.
03:30So just, it felt like a really, really cool deal to, to watch him on pay-per-view again,
03:34but he didn't, he doesn't need the belt.
03:35I would like to see him have maybe a baby face run here with the championship, but there's
03:40also a lot of guys who I would like to see in that spot, maybe a little bit more than
03:44him at this point in his career.
03:46So that's where AEW is at balancing some of the vets with the not quite as vets right
03:51now and, and how to get the most out of it.
03:53And one of the interesting ones now is Darby Allen, who will get the opportunity against MJF
03:57at Spring Breakthrough, Spring, I think it's Spring Breakthrough that they're calling it
04:02on, um, on Wednesday in Seattle.
04:05It's in Darby Allen's hometown.
04:07I don't, I don't think that him winning makes a ton of sense.
04:11I do think it's interesting given that it is in his hometown, but I don't know if it makes
04:17a ton of sense to just do it with no real build.
04:19I think if you wanted to do it and build it up over a couple of weeks, months, even have
04:24Darby lose by way of nefarious means for MJF and then him get his rematch at a pay-per-view
04:29and then get the win there, I think that does kind of check the box maybe a little bit better
04:34because I do think Darby should be the world champion at some point, but, and we'll talk
04:38about it later in the week, looking at the rest of the week and, or looking at the rest
04:43of the kind of calendar into the summer here for AEW, I do believe that a lot is going
04:49to be building towards Will Ospreay winning the title at Wembley, um, and I think it means
04:55more if it's coming off of MJF, right?
04:57So, not to just, like, lock your champion in for a while and now none of the matches
05:02really mean anything, but I do wonder if that's kind of where they're going, so I don't know
05:05if the title change makes sense, but MJF winning here made all the sense in the world,
05:11and I think now an interesting story to be told with Darby and to see where they kind
05:15of go from there, but overall, like I said, a really good night of wrestling from what
05:19I've seen already, it just, it wasn't the, like, oh my god, show of the year that AEW
05:24has been constantly churning out as of late.
05:26Uh, what do you guys think?
05:28Am I underselling this a little bit, and do you think Darby Allen could be the next AEW
05:33champion?
05:33Let me know, um, in the comments or in the chat if you are watching this live, and we
