The US-Iran peace talks in Islamabad have ended without a deal—and now President Trump says the US Navy will blockade the Strait of Hormuz.
The blockade begins Monday at 10 a.m. ET and will apply only to ships going to and from Iran. Tehran has vowed to retaliate against any military vessels in the strait.
Key sticking points in the talks included Iran's nuclear program, funding for Iranian proxy groups, and fully reopening the strait. None of it got resolved.
The consequences are already hitting wallets. Oil jumped back above $100 a barrel—up 8%—and US consumers should expect to pay more for gas heading into summer.
