00:00Hello Roswell, I love this coat. Honestly, it's incredible to keep warm because it's one of those days.
00:05Yes, and I'm on stage, I can't get ill.
00:06No, exactly, exactly. It's so amazing to see you. I've not seen your show yet, but I've heard really amazing
00:12things.
00:13What is it like being back in the theatre?
00:15It's wonderful. I love being part of London's entertainment world, entertainment scene.
00:21The hours suit me. I love the interaction, immediate interaction with an audience.
00:25We're telling a powerful story that people are responding to and feeling things about.
00:31I mean, I go to the theatre to feel. I want to feel. I want to be made to recognise
00:35something fundamentally human.
00:37And I think that's what our play is offering.
00:39Do you have any pre-show ratchels?
00:42Well, I warm up. I mean, I have a lot of talking to do in this show.
00:46So I do. I'm very diligent about that.
00:50Cups of chamomile tea, honey.
00:53I also use... I'm the creative director of an app called Luminate, and it's a psychedelic meditation app,
00:59and that is what resets my brain before every performance.
01:03I need this, but tell me, what's your favourite thing about theatre?
01:08Well, it's... as an actor, you have... the story is entrusted to you. It's in your hands.
01:17So each night I go out there as if this story's never happened to me before,
01:22and I let the events happen to me live in front of an audience, and that's very... that's very special.
01:28And you've done so many amazing things on screen, but why do you think it is that actors always want
01:33to return to the theatre?
01:35I don't know if they always do. I mean, I think some people can have wonderful careers and never go
01:41on stage,
01:42but I think if it's... you know, the theatre is what first inspired me as a child.
01:47You know, I never dreamt I'd be in films. I mean, the theatre is what I knew.
01:50It was that... and I would see actors at the curtain call after shows I'd seen, and I would feel
01:55something.
01:55I'd feel this... this thing that they'd done, that they'd given to the audience, and I thought, I want to
02:00be there. I want to do that.
02:02Well, I'm going to download your app. Thank you so much. I look forward to seeing the show. Good luck.
02:06Thanks very much. That was great.
02:07Oh, well, well, well.
