00:00Hello, I don't have Derek with me today.
00:02Oh, that's a shame.
00:03I know, because I was like, you would recognise Derek, maybe not me.
00:07I would, I recognise you, of course I do.
00:08Oh, but hey, you're just saying that now.
00:10No, I'm not.
00:10Listen, I miss you guys.
00:13What are we talking about then?
00:14We're talking about the dragons, first of all.
00:16Oh, right, okay.
00:16I miss yous.
00:18I know it's summer, so it's approaching.
00:20Do you miss us as much as we miss you?
00:21Of course, obviously.
00:22Don't ask silly questions, come on.
00:24Oh, you're always schooling me, honestly.
00:26There you go, there you go.
00:27But listen, we're here on the green carpet at the Olivia Awards.
00:29So how nice is it to be here celebrating theatre?
00:32It's lovely, it's great.
00:33It's great to celebrate the show.
00:34It's great to celebrate my castmates,
00:35who are just fantastic and deserve all the accolades.
00:40It's a good excuse to get everybody back together as well,
00:42because as soon as the show ended,
00:43we all went our separate ways and did other things and went home.
00:46So it's really good to get everyone back together, yeah.
00:48What's your favourite thing about theatre?
00:51The unpredictability of it, the danger of it,
00:55how it can be different every night.
00:57I'm so bored of the question,
00:59is it not tedious that you do the same thing every night?
01:03It's like, sure, if you're doing the same thing every night,
01:05of course that gets boring,
01:07but good theatre is never like that.
01:09Well, I was never going to ask that, so...
01:11There we go.
01:12A pat on the back.
01:14This is boots on the ground journalism right now.
01:17Listen, tell me, do you have any pre-show rituals?
01:21Oh, God, yeah.
01:22I can't let you into them, though.
01:23Please.
01:24No, no, no, they're too exposing.
01:25Would you tell Derek?
01:26Of course I'd tell Derek, but he's not here.
01:28I know he's not, because there's no dragons,
01:30so he'd be disappointed.
01:31Are you going to bring him to the Dragon Premier?
01:33Of course I am.
01:34Do you think I'd leave him in the house?
01:35I hope not.
01:36I would hope not.
01:36Listen, I did some night training recently,
01:38and I had Derek on my shoulder.
01:40So I know I'm going to see he's at the Dragon Premier,
01:43but at what point are you just going to cast me?
01:46Look, if I work for the casting department,
01:48you'd be in a heartbeat,
01:49but unfortunately that's out of my favour.
01:50Oh, really?
01:50Would you actually let me in?
01:51Of course.
01:52Absolutely, yeah.
01:52Why wouldn't I?
01:53I don't know how much you can tell me.
01:54It's probably nothing,
01:55but what can we expect from the next season?
01:57Oh, I don't know.
01:58I mean, look, by the nature of the show,
02:01it's going to be massive.
02:03It's a lot bigger than previous seasons.
02:05Everyone keeps saying this.
02:06It's bigger.
02:07It's bigger in terms of its scale
02:09and in terms of its sort of magnitude
02:11and the stakes are higher.
02:14Just shit is hitting the fan in a really exciting way.
02:17So, yeah, we've got loads of things.
02:18Also, I think every episode has one of those moments,
02:21at least one.
02:22What keeps you coming back to theatre?
02:24Because obviously you're off riding dragons
02:26and then you can go back into the theatre.
02:28Why do actors want to come home?
02:31Well, I mean, to some actors it's home
02:32and to some it's not.
02:33Some it's so alien and terrifying.
02:37And I understand why.
02:38But for me, I feel like if I don't do theatre
02:40for a long time, I get quite stale
02:43and my choices become predictable and safer.
02:49And what theatre does for me is it sharpens me up
02:51and makes me a bit more experimental
02:53and braver as an actor.
02:55Amazing.
02:55Well, I can't wait to see you at the premiere.
02:58Derek will be there.
02:59Look forward to it.
02:59Thank you so much.
03:00Lovely to see you again.
03:01Take care.
03:02Bye.
