Academia, but make it stressful: a college professor hits a personal and professional crossroads when one of her top students turns on the heat and makes an accusation against one of her colleagues. The problem is the accusation does not stay neatly in the hallway conversations. It starts tugging at something uglier and older.

Because as the fallout grows, a dark secret from the professor’s own past threatens to surface. And suddenly it’s not just about who did what, but who covered it up, who benefited, and who will have to explain their life choices to everyone who wears tenure like armor.

After the Hunt isn’t a polished courtroom masterpiece, and the scores back that up. But if you like messy moral tension and secrets that don’t know when to stop, this one might still hit.
----------

00:03All your generation, you're scared of saying the wrong thing.
00:06When did offending someone become the preeminent cardinal sin?
00:10Maybe it's around the same time your generation started making sweeping generalizations about ours.
00:14Whatever shame you have around self-expression, it is bullshit.
00:19Bullshit.
00:26You tend to choose people because they worship you, not because of any actual merit on their part.
00:33Maggie is brilliant.
00:35Is she? Does she just think you're brilliant?
00:40Hank's continued obsession.
00:42We're friends. Always felt better.
00:47Here we go.
00:51Talked to Maggie today.
00:53No, she wasn't in class. No call, no show.
01:00I need to speak with you, okay?
01:03Hank walked me home. He asked for a nightcap, which, you know, it's fine.
01:08He's Hank. Everybody loves Hank.
01:11What are you saying happened?
01:13It crossed the line.
01:15But what actually happened?
01:20It's the right thing to do, isn't it? To tell someone and, you know, give it in your history.
01:25What does that mean, my history?
01:29So are you going to tell me why this is not true?
01:33Oh, Maggie cheated.
01:34I told her I suspected she plagiarized, and then, the next day, utter fabrication.
01:39These kids have had everything handed to them in their lives.
01:42Insist that the world stop.
01:44But the first slip of victimization.
01:46It's just, like, amazing to me.
01:47A young black woman can get assaulted, and all these white people figure out a way to make it about
01:52themselves.
01:53You know the truth, and you won't say it, because it'll make you look bad.
02:00You should be ready.
02:01Ready for what?
02:04A backlash, potentially.
02:06I know you have feelings for me.
02:09I'm not owed this. This happened to me.
02:11I am a desperate man. I'm absolutely desperate.
02:13We're too married to lie to each other so blatantly.
02:16I believe her.
02:17But whatever happened to stuffing everything down like the rest of us?
02:20Did you know anything about this?
02:22I worked too hard, a little too much, to get here, to let it all be taken away.
02:26Nothing I would have done could have changed what's happened.
02:29You don't know that!
02:30You don't know that!
02:32All you want is accountability.
02:36I don't feel comfortable having this conversation with you anymore.
02:39Not everything is supposed to make you comfortable.
02:50You don't know what's happening.
