Two strangers meet at a wedding. Nothing too wild, right? Then they get in a car together and their navigation system promptly decides it’s done with sensible directions. Instead of the expected route, they’re sent on an unexpected drive through places that matter to each of them. Not in the vague “oh, this looks familiar” way. More like “this spot explains why your life is the way it is” territory.

What starts as a detour turns into a rewind button for key moments from their pasts. And if that wasn’t enough, the locations don’t just shed light on the present. They also start hinting at what comes next, as if the road itself knows the ending. The result is a charm-offense with a dash of destiny. It’s sweet when it’s on, a little overconfident when it isn’t. Critics weren’t exactly lining up for it. Still, if you like emotionally coded road narratives with a slightly unhinged GPS, this one might land.

Zwei Fremde lernen sich auf einer Hochzeit kennen. Klassischer Startpunkt für Romantik… bis das Navi aussetzt. Ab dann werden sie nicht etwa „geführt“, sondern eher entführt: Ihr Auto schlängelt sich über eine Route, die für beide wie eine Landkarte der eigenen Vergangenheit funktioniert. Jeder Stopp ist so ein kleiner Rückfall in alte Entscheidungen. Nur mit extra dramatischer Beleuchtung. Und dann wird es richtig dreist. Die Orte scheinen nicht nur Erinnerungen zu reaktivieren, sondern auch die Gegenwart zu kommentieren und die Zukunft schon mal anzukündigen. Ob das Schicksal da wirklich mitfährt oder ob das Ganze nur sehr überzeugend geträumt ist? Der Film wankt zwischen sanftem Kitsch und Zeitreise-Feeling. Aber hey. 6,2 auf IMDb und 37% bei Rotten Tomatoes klingen nach „meistens nett, manchmal anstrengend“. Für eine Road-Story mit emotionalen Umwegen aber genau richtig.
