Forget elegant supernatural vibes. „The Mannequin“ is straight-up LA-location horror with a practical problem: a young stylist assistant is trying to figure out how her sister died inside a historic building. She digs around, checks what she can, and the place basically answers back. Not with helpful clues, with a presence.

Because the investigation hits a wall. The building is tied to the spirit of a serial killer who, decades ago, dismembered victims there. Great. So now it’s not just “what happened to my sister?” It becomes “how fast can I get out before the ghost decides I’m next?”

The movie keeps pushing you toward one simple conclusion: curiosity is not a survival plan. It’s messy, tense, and pretty committed to making things worse.

„The Mannequin“ ist diese Sorte Horror, die nicht lange um den heißen Brei redet. Eine junge Stylistin-Assistentin kommt nach Los Angeles in ein historisches Gebäude, weil ihre Schwester dort gestorben ist. Klingt erstmal nach „Mystery mit Aktenzeichen“. Spoiler. Die Akten öffnen sich von allein. Denn irgendwann taucht der Geist eines Serienmörders auf, der vor Jahrzehnten seine Opfer regelrecht zerlegt hat. Und ja, das ist genauso unangenehm, wie es klingt.

Was dann folgt, ist weniger Spukhaus-Atmosphäre und mehr Jagdspiel: Hinweise, die nach und nach nach hinten losgehen, und eine Entscheidung, die du als Zuschauerin schon spürst, bevor sie fällt. Wer auf klassische Geisterlogik mit viel „lauf schneller“ steht, bekommt hier genau das.
