00:12Sì, sono Andrea Granizio,
00:28I am an Italian composer,
00:30we are in Italy now working on this amazing project,
00:34China Dream.
01:00As a part of my PhD in Composition at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire I had the chance to visit
01:07China for three months, living in Chengdu and giving lectures at the Sichuan Conservatory
01:15of Music.
01:15It was an amazing experience that changed completely my life and my perception of music.
01:19I got in contact with a lot of musicologists, musician composers as well and I also had
01:25a chance to deepen my knowledge of the Chinese traditional music.
01:45Surprisingly I found that Italian and Chinese culture are very close and in order to strengthen
01:53this relationship, this cultural relationship, I started a collaboration with a Chinese pianist
01:58and we record with the endorsement of the Italian Faziole Piano Company a CD of my music
02:03in Shanghai.
02:05During a performance of my piano composition in London I met Bebe, surprisingly she came
02:11to me and started to talk in Italian saying
02:14Ciao Andrea, la tua musica mi piace molto, which means
02:17Hello Andrea, I really love your music.
02:20Immediately we created a really good artistical connection and we were joking about the idea
02:28to write an opera for her.
02:30I didn't know her before but a lot of people there told me that she was a top singer in
02:35opera in London.
02:37After several meetings with Bebe she asked me to arrange a Chinese song.
02:44She came out with this amazing melody by the composer Hu Dejan, which is...
03:04Beautiful, really beautiful melody with really powerful and meaningful lyrics by Jean Cairo.
03:13So at some point I had three great ingredients.
03:18I had a great voice, a great melody and great lyrics and of course it was a challenging job,
03:27but I couldn't say no.
03:30So we talked together and we decided to create an opera-like arrangement.
03:38Bebe told me, okay, you are Italian so you are the best person who can do this kind of job.
03:44And which is more or less true because I still remember when I was a child and my grandfather used
03:52to sing Puccini's opera at home.
03:54We accepted this amazing challenge and I talked with my partner, Emanuele Contis,
04:02which is a great composer, arranger and producer with whom I am running a company,
04:08which is called Indoro, which is a sort of boutique of sound.
04:11We decided to create a proper suit around the voice of Bebe.
04:16As this project, it's aimed at creating an international relationship, we decided to involve
04:22in this work an amazing sound engineer.
04:26It's the sort of sound engineer that every single musician and composer would love to work with.
04:32And we created a proper international team, which is here now.
04:36We are still working at the moment about to finalize this project.
04:39So we are looking forward to see you in London in a couple of weeks.
04:44And we really hope that you like our work and you enjoy our music.
04:50Thank you very much.
04:57Ciao, I am Emanuele Contis, an Italian composer and producer.
05:02And together with Andrea, we have found our company Indoro, La Boutique del Suono,
05:06which is a music and sound studio based in Sardinia, surrounded and inspired by the Mediterranean Sea.
05:13It was a pleasure for me to work as a producer and arranger in this beautiful project.
05:18And I really hope that the future can bring us the new opportunity to work
05:23and to share our culture between Italy and China.
05:28Hope to see you soon. Bye.
05:34Hi, I'm Marty Jane Robertson.
05:36I'm a recording engineer from Seattle, Washington, the United States.
05:41And I'm here in my studio in Sardinia, in Italy, at Jane's studio,
05:48where the last few days we've been recording strings for this wonderful new Indoro project.
05:53And now I'm in the process of mixing and I'm really excited.
06:01Hi, everybody. This is Andrea Granizio, Emanuele Contis, and Matthew J. Robertson.
