“My Oxford Year” is basically academic postcard visuals mixed with relationship tension. Not exactly a crown-jewel, but if you like your romance with a little danger behind the curtain, it’s worth a look. Just don’t expect the kind of universal acclaim that would make it feel untouchable.

“My Oxford Year” ist keine feierliche Liebesgeschichte, sondern eher ein Stimmungsgemisch aus Glamour und kalten Wasserduschen. Es klingt nach romantischem Happy End, aber das Timing ist ständig so, als würde jemand die falsche Tür aufziehen. Wer Oxford-Optik mag und Geheimnisse nicht nur in der Garderobe erwartet, sollte zumindest einmal reinschauen. Die Bewertungen sind zwar nicht gerade Olympiatauglich, aber manchmal sind genau die Filme am interessantesten, die nicht so tun, als hätten sie alles im Griff.
