Ava has a pretty normal job at a bank. Her marriage does not. When her husband Dallas walks away, it’s not a thoughtful breakup. It’s the kind of exit that leaves you staring at the ceiling like, „so that’s it?“ Ava refuses to accept defeat and decides she’ll fight for what she believes is hers. Of course, the movie doesn’t just stop at heartbreak. Fate shows up and starts spelling out the mess behind Dallas’ behavior, basically rewriting the story of how the marriage collapsed. It also drags Ava’s bigger destiny into the mess, including whether she ever really had a shot at the love she was supposedly meant to receive. Over-the-top? Sure. But entertaining in that dramatic, „let the truth hit hard“ way.

Ava arbeitet in einer Bank und versucht, ihren Privatkrieg trotzdem wie ein Profi zu managen. Dann macht ihr Ehemann Dallas einfach Schluss. Nicht so im Sinne von „wir brauchen eine Pause“, sondern eher „ich bin raus“. Ava ist am Boden, will aber nicht klein beigeben. Und weil das Leben offensichtlich keine Geduld hat, kommt das Schicksal vorbei und wirft Dallas’ dunkle Seite aufs Tablett. Plötzlich geht es nicht nur um die zerbrochene Ehe, sondern auch um alte Versprechen und eine Liebe, die angeblich für Ava vorgesehen war. Tyler Perry zeigt das Ganze mit viel Seife, viel Drama und genau der Sorte moralischer Genugtuung, die man entweder liebt oder mit verschränkten Armen erträgt.
