Happy Gilmore returns, because retiring was apparently just a season break. Nearly 30 years after he beat Shooter McGavin at golf and made everything feel like chaos with a soundtrack, Happy is back for a very specific reason. His daughter Vienna needs ballet training, and it costs a cool 300,000 US dollars. So Happy grabs the clubs again and tries to muscle his way into relevance. The problem. There’s a whole new crop of pro golfers now, and they play the way people do when they’ve had time to learn rules and develop ego. Happy has to adjust his game, which is cute, since he was never exactly known for “tactical finesse.” This is dumb in the best way and probably smarter than it lets on.

Also zurück in die Profigolf-Hölle, in der die neue Generation längst beschlossen hat, wie man “richtig” spielt. Spoiler: Happy spielt nicht richtig. Er passt nur notgedrungen alles an, was man im Sport angeblich nicht anfassen darf. Das Ganze wirkt wie ein Duracell-Remake mit alten Knochen und neuen Gegnern. Unnötig? Vielleicht. Unterhaltsam? Sehr wahrscheinlich.
