00:00Hello, well by now you've probably caught up with the news that I announced to my Cabinet and caucus colleagues
00:06and to New Zealand today that I've taken the decision to stand down as Leader of the National Party and
00:12Prime Minister at a special caucus meeting that will be held on the 12th of December.
00:18I've been Leader of the National Party now for a bit over 10 years and Prime Minister for eight. It's
00:24been an amazing privilege to serve the people of New Zealand. I believe very strongly that our government has achieved
00:30a lot in the eight years that we've been in office.
00:33But there were a great many reasons why I felt I shouldn't put my name forward to run for a
00:38fourth term. They included wanting to spend some more time of course with my wife Bronagh and our kids Steffie
00:44and Max.
