00:21Forty rockets, one ancient city, and a war that just got a whole lot more dangerous.
00:28Hezbollah launched one of its biggest rocket barrages in recent memory, straight at Safed,
00:33one of Israel's oldest and most historic cities.
00:37Today we're breaking down exactly what happened, why it happened, and what it means.
00:42Let's get into it.
00:44Picture this, April 10th, northern Israel.
00:47Sirens suddenly rip through the air across Safed and surrounding Galilee communities.
00:52Over 40 rockets come screaming across the border from southern Lebanon.
00:57Buildings damaged, a forest fire breaks out, infrastructure hit.
01:02And yet, somehow, no casualties.
01:05Early warning systems and air defense interceptions saved lives that day.
01:09But make no mistake, this was not a small skirmish.
01:13This was a major barrage.
01:15Deliberate, coordinated, and it had a very specific reason behind it.
01:20Now you might be wondering, why Safed?
01:23This city is over 2,000 years old.
01:26It sits high in the mountains of northern Israel.
01:29It's considered one of Judaism's four holy cities.
01:32It's famous for its art, its history, its mysticism.
01:36But in military terms, it's close.
01:39It's symbolic.
01:40And it's been a recurring Hezbollah target in this conflict,
01:43alongside nearby military bases like Mahava Alan and Beria,
01:48which were hit in March and April of 2026.
01:52Hitting Safed sends a message, and Hezbollah wanted to send a loud one.
01:56So what set this off?
01:58Go back one day, April 8th, 2026.
02:02Israel launched something called Operation Eternal Darkness.
02:06Here's what that looked like.
02:08Approximately 50 fighter jets, around 160 munitions,
02:12over 100 targets across Lebanon.
02:15All of it in just 10 minutes.
02:18Southern Lebanon was hammered.
02:21Hezbollah command centers, missile infrastructure,
02:23pressure, intelligence sites, Radwan force positions.
02:26The city of Nabatea, a key Hezbollah stronghold, was heavily struck.
02:31Lebanon's health ministry reported at least 254 to over 300 people killed,
02:37and more than 1,100 wounded from these strikes.
02:41One single strike in a village called Sire el-Garbiyah killed 19 people,
02:46many of them women and children.
02:48And here's the kicker.
02:49This happened just hours after a U.S.-Iran ceasefire was announced.
02:55Hezbollah called it a betrayal.
02:56Israel said the ceasefire didn't cover Lebanon,
02:59and the rockets towards Safed were Hezbollah's answer.
03:03This is what the 2026 Lebanon War looks like right now.
03:07On one side, Israel, under Netanyahu, says it will keep striking
03:11until Hezbollah's threat is fully neutralized.
03:14No exceptions.
03:15On the other, Hezbollah, which had signaled a pause aligned with the U.S.-Iran ceasefire,
03:21says Israel broke the terms first and resumed fire in response.
03:25Meanwhile, over 800,000 people have been displaced in Lebanon.
03:30Neither side is backing down.
03:3240 rockets over an ancient city, 300 dead in Lebanon,
03:37a ceasefire that didn't hold,
03:39and a region sitting on a knife's edge.
04:07There's no place to change.
