00:03Siamo in Erbil con Nechirvan Barzani, che dal 2019 è Presidente delle regioni kurde del nord, Iraq.
00:13And I will ask you the first question, sir, how do you see this war?
00:20What is your judgment about this Israeli-American attack against Iran and how to try to save the ceasefire?
00:30How to proceed with the peace process?
00:32So our position is very clear in Kurdistan.
00:36We are welcoming the ceasefire between America and Iran.
00:42And we are, of course, it's fragile.
00:45We know, we understand that, but we are hoping that the ceasefire will continue and give a room for a
00:54real dialogue between two sides and solve all the issues through a negotiation.
01:01One of the hot questions is the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.
01:05How do you think should work?
01:07How should you think should be opened?
01:09And what would be the security measure to guarantee the passages of the ships, international ships, toward the Strait?
01:17Of course, Hormuz Strait, it's a very important location.
01:23I mean, in my view, honestly, it's, you cannot just control it by military present there, no matter how many
01:32troops do you have.
01:33I think it has to be open for everybody, yes, because it's affected the economy in the world, not only
01:42one country.
01:43And at the end, it has to be a negotiation.
01:47You know, I mean, it has to be dialogue, how to open and how to make it secure for all
01:53the ships to cross the Hormuz Gate.
01:57Here, on the, between the 18 and 20 of May, you will be in Rome to see the Pope and
02:02probably to see also the Italian leadership.
02:05What is your mission there? What is the meaning of your visit in Italy?
02:09Look, we have a very historical relation, you know, with Vatican.
02:15We had the honor to receive a previous Pope, you know, in Erbil and also in Iraq.
02:25And it was a historical visit, really, for not only for the Kurds, for everybody in Iraq.
02:32So, as you said, of course, I will visit the Vatican again, too, because this is, for me, it will
02:38be the first time to see the new Pope.
02:41To talk about this co-existing, you know, I mean, co-existing culture and mosaic of accepting each other, you
02:53know, I mean, in Iraqi Kurdistan.
02:55And with Italy also, first of all, let me start by thanking, you know, I mean, Italy.
03:01Since 2003, they contribute a lot, and especially, of course, after 2014, they help us in terms of humanitarian assistance
03:12and also military assistance in Iraq and Kurdistan.
03:19And we are grateful for all the support, and we hope that, you know, from now on, our economic tie
03:26with Italy to encourage the Italian company to come and to invest in Iraq and Kurdistan.
03:35Also, it will be another subject I would like to discuss with Trump.
03:40Thank you very much.
