00:00And it will be time to look to the lights, because Formula 1 is about to go racing again.
00:05The final sprint race of the season is underway, and it's a good launch off the line for our pole
00:10sitter.
00:11Lando Norris got the launch that he needs.
00:13Can Oscar Piastri put pressure on George Russell for P2?
00:15The answer to that is not into the corner, maybe on the outside.
00:19It's Lando Norris who finds himself with the lead, and Oscar Piastri who roars by to take second place.
00:24A nice start for both McLarens, who are 1 and 2 at the moment.
00:27Russell drops down to third, Sainz hangs on to fourth, but it's a climb for Lewis Hamilton.
00:32Despondent yesterday, he is on the attack today.
00:35He's moved up two places to fifth, as Norris leads Piastri on lap number one of 19.
00:41And a lesser spotted, Verstappen going a little bit backwards at the start.
00:45Hülkenberg's managed to jump him, but really feisty stuff there from Oscar Piastri,
00:49who you just sensed, felt that he'd let it slip the pole position yesterday.
00:53Didn't quite get his lap together, but he's got his start together.
00:57This is on board with Max Verstappen in ninth position.
01:00He's offline, and the other thing with the wind is it's blowing more sand onto the track,
01:05and no one's been on that part of the racetrack so far.
01:08Well, I'll be serious for an understatement.
01:13Quickly see what happened to Checo then, green light.
01:16So you've got to wait for all the cars to go past before you get the green light.
01:21Wow, he's like pulling away as if he had a dozen eggs in the back of the car.
01:25This is what it looked like on board for Franco Colapinto.
01:28There you go, there's the green light.
01:29Thinks about doing it on the outside, does so on the outside.
01:32That is brilliant.
01:33Brilliant, instinctive stuff from Colapinto.
01:36Big lap coming up now for Oscar Piastri.
01:39Can he get inside DRS range?
01:41He's not doing this out of choice, really.
01:43McLaren happy with the position that they're in.
01:45Gaining points, but Russell's gaining as well.
01:48And that is a bold look to the inside.
01:50Can he force Piastri off the racing line?
01:52It was a mere look last time.
01:55This lap around, far more intent from Russell.
02:01Here's the lunge down the inside.
02:02Looks like he's got clean racetrack.
02:04And yeah, that actually does give you another perspective on it.
02:07You can understand why George was saying,
02:08well, hold on a minute, he cut across my bow.
02:10And that's exactly what happened with him in the Grand Prix last year
02:13with Lewis Hamilton, who then went into the gravel.
02:17Jolien's wincing, seeing how close Oscar's getting to the front of the field.
02:22Here's a pass from Max Verstappen to the inside of Pierre Gasly and Verstappen.
02:27First time he's lost positions in any race all year,
02:30but he's just gained a place there.
02:34Here's an opportunity for the Ferrari in sixth position
02:37to turn it into fifth to the inside.
02:40The two future teammates nearly banging wheels.
02:43And Charles Leclerc is looking for fifth place,
02:45but Lewis Hamilton doesn't want to give it up yet.
02:47And Hamilton versus Leclerc is resuming next year.
02:51But is that a preview of what's to come?
02:53Because Hamilton takes it back!
02:55Or can he?
02:56No, sweeping around the outside to finally claim fifth place.
02:59Or if that's a sign of things to come, bring it on.
03:03Let's have another look.
03:05Big slipstream for Leclerc.
03:06This is the closest he was.
03:07Went down the inside.
03:08The thing is with this first corner,
03:09it encourages you to hold it around the outside.
03:12Lewis gave Charles plenty of space.
03:13It wasn't quite like the Piastri-Russell moment.
03:16And then he has the inside for turn two,
03:18at which point Leclerc was very aggressive at holding it around the outside.
03:21And they were really respectful with each other, actually.
03:24George Russell is going to have another lunch.
03:28On board with the driver.
03:28Currently in third!
03:30Will he be given a car's width?
03:31Aggressive defence from Oscar Piastri.
03:34We saw it from the nose cam.
03:35Piastri's still in second place,
03:37but he's lost that DRS.
03:38And Russell is on the charge.
03:40That was late.
03:42Twice now.
03:45In fairness, that was quite a late reaction move.
03:48Not enough to warrant a penalty,
03:50but he was definitely watching the motors.
03:53It will be back-to-back sprint victories
03:56as Lando Norris comes tight out of the final line,
03:59comes across the line,
04:00and Oscar Piastri takes the sprint win.
04:03At the very end,
04:05Oscar Piastri goes past Lando Norris,
04:09and the McLaren swap on the 19th and final lap.
04:13On the last corner,
04:15Piastri beats Norris across the line
04:17by a tenth of a second,
04:19and there was a twist in the tail.
04:21Back-to-back sprint wins in Qatar
04:23for Oscar Piastri.
04:26This is the moment where it was decided.
04:30We finish in this order.
04:32Finish in this order.
04:33We're happy.
04:34So Norris was told by Will Joseph
04:37to finish in the order,
04:38but he never wanted team orders this year,
04:41and he felt the need to repay the favor from Sao Paulo.
04:44Norris taking the choice on his own
04:47to overrule the team
04:49and to give back the win
04:51that Piastri handed to him in Sao Paulo
04:53at the next sprint race here in Qatar.
04:58Yeah, thank you for the teamwork.
05:00Much appreciated,
05:01and a great load of points,
05:03so thanks, everybody.
05:04Piastri won't mind.
05:05It's a win.
05:06Norris, I don't think,
05:07will be too cut up
05:08that he's lost that one either.
05:09It's just a strange way to end it,
05:11and it's complicated as well
05:12because trying to execute that,
05:13the top four finished
05:14within four-tenths of a second.
05:18You don't get many races
05:20settled by one-tenth of a second.
05:22This season's had everything,
05:24including McLaren swapping
05:26at the final corner of the last lap.
05:28It means that Oscar Piastri
05:29takes his second sprint win,
05:30and they have both come here in Qatar.
05:33Lando Norris is in second place,
05:35George Russell in third,
05:37and McLaren crucial points
05:39gained over Ferrari,
05:40who finished fourth and fifth
05:41with Sainz and Leclerc.
05:43lando Norris.
05:43lando Norris,
05:43yardım力
