The Vietnam War is one of the most politically charged and most studied in recent American history. But the men of regiment Delta 2/5(R) examine the conflict in much finer detail than many historians by completing a punctilious annual reenactment of the war. With striking historical accuracy, rare archival footage and a deeply personal inspection on the effects of PTSD, In Country artfully activates the similarities between past wars and the military conflicts of today. The film is highly recommended for courses in History, Sociology, Psychology, Military Studies and Performance Studies.

00:31The culture, self-expression.
00:38They say you can never go back.
00:41So for a couple hours, I went back.
00:44These stories are something I can relate to because I've been in a war.
00:47Some people, like, shoot heroin. You know, I go to war.
00:50I'm still stronger when I am the South Vietnam Army.
00:57A lot of it is a way for me to live out that childhood love of playing war.

01:06It's not like Boy Scouts.
01:08It's real.
01:09You actually have to work to get it done.
01:11If you're dead, then shut up and be quiet and don't say anything.
01:24My personality is still the same, but I don't get sad.
01:27I don't fall in love.
01:29The deep emotion, I just can't find those, you know.
01:31When I came back, I never connected back with my wife.
01:34It was more of a shock going back to home than it was going to Iraq.
01:38In my memory, go back, go back, go back, go back, go back.
01:47Arise.
01:48Here you go. One shot, one kill.
01:54Let these guys know, you know, tonight's your show and tell, your talk about Iraq stuff.
