This is not a “motherly tears and hope” horror. In „Maa“, a mom has one job: keep her daughter alive while demons turn the house into a fear machine. The curse hits with the usual horror staples, but it does not pretend to be subtle. There’s panic, blood, and betrayals that feel less like plot twists and more like bad decisions catching up in real time.

Then the movie leans into its myth card. The mother transforms into the goddess Kali to fight back against the demon’s grip on the daughter. It’s dramatic in that loud, no-apologies way, like the film decided quiet tension is overrated.

At IMDB 4.9 and Rotten Tomatoes 14% you can guess the verdict: it’s messy. But messy can still be fun if you want your horror direct, frantic, and fueled by a very determined parent who refuses to lose.

Eine Mutter macht nicht einfach „alles für ihr Kind“. Sie kämpft gegen Dämonen, während das Böse ihr genau in die Nerven fasst. In „Maa“ wird aus Angst schnell ein Kampfbegriff: Die Tochter ist im Zentrum einer Fluch-Nummer, die mit Panik, Blut und dieser ganz besonderen Sorte Verrat arbeitet, die nur funktioniert, wenn man niemandem mehr trauen will.

Und klar, da wird auch mythologisch aufgeladen. Die Mutter greift zur ultimativen Notfall-Form. Kali lässt grüßen. Was dabei herauskommt, ist kein subtiler Horror, sondern eher ein wilder, wütender Schubser: hektisch, direkt, manchmal erstaunlich platt, aber mit dem nötigen Drive, um dich wach zu halten. Wenn du religiös gefärbten Dämonen-Kram magst, ohne lange Erklärungen, wirst du hier zumindest ordentlich beschäftigt.
