“DNA” isn’t here to comfort you. A new mom with a Borderline-Personality Disorder becomes convinced that her newborn was switched at birth, just minutes after delivery. And because this is a movie about reality’s worst timing, the first reaction from everyone around her is doubt. Even her husband starts out questioning her, like, “Sure. But is it actually… that?”

Then it flips. He finally believes her, and suddenly the story stops being a private meltdown and turns into a desperate countdown. He and an experienced police officer start hunting for the truth before time runs out, because apparently babies do not come with a return policy.

It’s intense, sometimes frustrating, and very aware that trust is messy. But that’s the point. At 7.2 on IMDb, people clearly didn’t just watch it to relax.

„DNA“ ist der Film, bei dem man beim Zähneputzen plötzlich anfängt, an Vertauschungsszenarien zu denken. Eine junge Mutter kämpft nach der Geburt mit einer Borderline-Persönlichkeitsstörung und ist überzeugt, dass ihr Baby ein paar Minuten nach der Entbindung nicht das ist, was es sein sollte. Natürlich zweifeln erstmal alle. Sogar ihr Mann, der sonst eher fürs „wir kriegen das hin“ bekannt ist. Aber dann kippt die Stimmung. Er glaubt ihr. Und ab da wird aus emotionalem Chaos ein echtes Rennen gegen die Uhr.

Das Ganze bleibt dabei unbequem ehrlich. Nicht jede Angst wird erklärt, nicht jede Entscheidung ist clever. Das macht’s spannend und ein bisschen höllisch nervig. (7,2 bei IMDb. Ja, die Leute sind wohl genauso alarmiert.)
