“The Things You Kill” starts with a simple idea that gets gross fast. Ali, a university professor, is haunted by the suspicious death of his sick mother. Then he does the worst possible thing. He coerces a mysterious gardener into carrying out a cold-blooded act of revenge, like that’s a normal adult decision.

What follows is less “cool vengeance fantasy” and more escalating emotional collateral damage. Long-buried family secrets resurface. The police keep tightening the screws. And Ali? He starts getting eaten alive by his own doubts, because you can’t outsmart guilt. The movie keeps turning the spotlight back on him, until the scary part is not the plot. It’s what Ali is willing to do to feel justified.

Dry, tense, and stubbornly uncomfortable. IMDb sits at 6.5, but Rotten Tomatoes shows a rare case of people actually liking the mess.
----------
Ali ist Uni-Professor. Klingt nach Büchern und Ruhe. Nope.

„The Things You Kill“ ist kein sauberer Thriller mit moralischem Leitfaden.
