Rebecca survives a plane crash as a kid in the Amazon jungle. People call her a miracle and, shockingly, that rumor doesn’t stay small. Years later she’s famous as a healer, and her growing attention turns her father Lawrence Byrne’s mission into a magnet for believers, desperate folks, and trouble. Then the illegal loggers arrive, pushing into Indigenous land and deciding they can just do the job, with “mission” as a convenient word. Rebecca and Byrne get pulled into the fallout, and the film doesn’t really do subtle. It’s an escalating mess of faith, power, and survival where every step forward feels like stepping on dry leaves. “Transamazonia” has bite. And no, it’s not here to make the world comfortable.

Jahre später wird aus dem Gerücht eine lokale Berühmtheit: Rebecca heilt, und plötzlich steht jeder mit Sorgen und Hoffnung vor der Mission von Lawrence Byrne. Klingt erstmal nach Schicksal, bis illegale Holzfäller auftauchen. Sie dringen in das Gebiet der Ureinwohner ein. Und dann wird aus dem spirituellen Setting ein stinkender Konflikt, der sich immer weiter hochschaukelt. Kein gemütliches Tropenmärchen. Eher: Wer hier zählt, wer sich alles an „Glaube“ und „Zweck“ hängt, und wer am Ende die Rechnung bekommt.
