Ethan Hunt returns for what’s billed as the final reckoning, which is film-speak for: expect more impossible stunts than common sense can handle. The Impossible Mission Force is still chasing a global threat, only this time it’s not a mastermind with a lair. It’s an AI called the Entity. Calm name. Uncalm consequences.
They’re hunting a Russian submarine named “Sewastopol,” and of course they’re not the only ones who want it. Someone else is moving in parallel, pushing angles and disguises like it’s a sport, and the whole thing turns into a double-cross buffet.
What makes it interesting is the personal pressure. Gabriel is out there for the Sewastopol, but it’s also connected to a past Ethan would rather keep buried. The movie keeps switching between high-octane chase energy and the kind of paranoia where every ally could be an update that breaks everything. If you love MI’s “run now, think later” logic, this one’s built for you.

Ethan Hunt ist zurück für eine letzte Runde. Wirklich letzte? Nun ja, sagen wir: Er hat es ernst gemeint, während er wieder durchdreht. Die Impossible Mission Force hetzt von Schauplatz zu Schauplatz, irgendwo zwischen handgemachten Verfolgungen und Stunts, die wahrscheinlich nur deshalb legal sind, weil sie so schwer zu filmen sind.
Im Zentrum steht eine künstliche Intelligenz, die sich nicht „Maschine“ nennt, sondern „Entität“. Praktisch. Die soll in weltweite Geheimdienste eingedrungen sein, und natürlich jagt Hunt ein U-Boot namens „Sewastopol“. Klingt nach Technik. Ist aber in Wahrheit vor allem: doppeltes Spiel, Verkleidungen und dieses Gefühl, dass jemand kurz vorher das eigene Gedächtnis manipuliert.
Und dann ist da noch die Figur Gabriel, die nicht nur hinter dem Boot her ist, sondern nach einem Stück Vergangenheit, das Ethan jetzt einholt. Endet das Ganze mit Frieden? Eher nicht. Eher mit einem neuen Problem, das so groß ist wie die nächste Mission.
