“Tin Soldier” starts by pretending it’s offering something humane: a special program for US combat veterans, trying to figure out their “purpose” and what’s next. That’s the pitch. The follow-up is less therapy and more machine.

Because the program doesn’t just create direction. It creates a unit. Heavily armed. Highly trained. And weirdly committed, like loyalty comes pre-installed. Naturally, the government notices before things get out of hand, because when your “support system” looks cult-like and marches like a doctrine, someone has to be the adult in the room. Spoiler. They’re late.

This one is awkward in the best way. It’s blunt about how quickly personal recovery can turn into political leverage. Not subtle. Not subtle at all. But if you like your dystopia with a dry wink, you’ll probably stick around.

Die Idee klingt erst mal wie ein harmloses Rehaprogramm: US-Veteranen bekommen im „Bokushi“-Konstrukt Unterstützung für den nächsten Lebensabschnitt. Nur dass die Hilfe ziemlich schnell anfängt, wie Rekrutierung für etwas auszusehen, das niemand „Ausbildungsstätte“ nennen will. Denn statt Therapie-Märchen wartet da eine Armee auf, schwer bewaffnet, top trainiert und erstaunlich hingebungsvoll. Die Regierung merkt irgendwann, dass hier nicht nur an Zukunft gearbeitet wird, sondern an Kontrolle.

„Tin Soldier“ ist kein subtiler Film, aber das ist auch sein Reiz. Er zeigt, wie aus Trauma „Zweck“ wird und aus Zweck ein System, das sich selbst ernährt. Wer Kult-Vibes plus Militärlogik mag, bekommt eine ziemlich schiefe, aber unterhaltsam trockene Warnung.
