Odin dies one night and wakes up on the floor of an empty swimming pool. Not “eternal peace.” More like “someone forgot to fill the drama with water.”

Then Charon shows up. She is apparently the only one who can ferry him to the afterlife. Great news. Bad news: she’s not doing it for free. Odin has to pay first, because of course he does.

The premise sounds simple, but the movie leans into that awkward, transactional vibe. One part supernatural logistics, one part existential headache, with a wink at how quickly dignity gets priced.

If you like stories where the afterlife comes with a bill and the vibe is deadpan rather than heroic, “Charon” is your kind of weird.

Odin stirbt nachts. Das ist schon mal ziemlich unromantisch, aber wenigstens wacht er danach nicht im Himmel auf, sondern auf dem Boden eines komplett leeren Schwimmbeckens. Super Kulisse, null Komfort. Und dann steht Charon da, die einzige, die ihn ins Jenseits rüberbringen kann. Spoiler: Das ist kein freundlicher Kaffeeklatsch mit Seelen. Für die Überfahrt braucht Odin nämlich erstmal Geld. Weil natürlich. Zwischen Existenzkrise und Abzocke bleibt Zeit für die ganz banale Frage: Wie viel kostet man seinen eigenen nächsten Schritt?

"Charon" ist dieser dunkle, leicht absurden Mystery-Deal. Kein großes Warten auf das Schicksal, eher ein schneller Check, wer hier die Kontrolle hat.
