Mexico, right now. Rita is a lawyer who’s overqualified and still stuck doing the same job: dressing up crime so it can pass for paperwork-approved chaos. Then the call comes. Juan “Little Hands” Del Monte, aka Manitas, wants something that sounds impossible and somehow also like a trap with better lighting. He’s done with his life of dirt and wants out permanently. The catch is that he needs Rita to make it happen.

Manitas has been quietly building his exit plan for years. Not just to disappear, but to become the person he’s been carrying inside. Her name is Emilia Pérez.

It’s a dark, slippery setup with three women chasing their own version of happiness. Funny how “freedom” still requires legal loopholes.

Mexiko, Gegenwart. Rita ist Anwältin mit zu viel Talent und zu wenig Kontrolle. Doch das ist nicht nur Flucht. Manitas schraubt seit Jahren an einer anderen Version seines Lebens. Und die heißt Emilia Pérez.

Das Ganze ist so schräg, so messerscharf und moralisch schief genug, dass man dranbleiben will.
