“Strange Darling” doesn’t ease you in. It starts messy, almost horny in a reckless way, and then it turns into a serial killer nightmare before you can catch your breath. A young woman bursts out of the woods, running like her life depends on it. It does. A armed man keeps closing the distance, and for a minute you’re just watching pure survival math play out in real time. Then she escapes in a sports car, and the movie politely laughs at the idea that you’re safe now. Because what follows is the real horror. The story keeps rearranging what you think you know, feeding you information in the wrong order, until the “one-night stand” framing feels less like backstory and more like a trap. Dark, sharp, and way too confident to be subtle.

Am Ende erwischt sie den Sportwagen und denkt kurz: Okay, geschafft. Spoiler: Nein. Der Film macht genau das, was die meisten Thriller nur versprechen. Er verdreht dir die Wahrnehmung, schiebt dir Hinweise unter, die erst später Sinn ergeben, und spielt mit dem Gefühl, dass alles, was du gerade siehst, schon längst lügt. Das ist kein „Schau mal, wie spannend“. Das ist „Schau mal, wie mies du dich hast täuschen lassen.“
