“Sisterqueens” spends four years with three girls in Berlin: Jamila (9), Rachel (11), and Faseeha (12). Not a quick makeover story. More like watching someone learn to speak loudly on her own terms, without asking permission from anyone’s idea of “normal.”
They rap about social injustice and self-determination, then keep rewiring what feminism means in their verses. You can feel the shift as they go from trying out lines to owning them. The film also pokes at identity, the police, and what it actually takes to make art that doesn’t politely fit into a stereotype.
It’s an observational documentary that treats their voices like the main event, not background mood. Dry, direct, and weirdly motivating, even when the topics get sharp.
----------
