Football hype meets nightmare fuel. During the World Cup final between Argentina and Holland, in the middle of a military dictatorship, a group of torturers breaks into a house and drags a group of young people away. Their plan sounds simple: interrogate. Unfortunately for everyone involved, the “right targets” were not the ones they grabbed.
So the interrogation doesn’t end. It mutates. What starts brutal quickly turns into something worse and more drawn-out, like the universe itself is refusing to give them an out. Because the hidden facility is not just a secret prison. It’s run like a macabre cult, with an unknown supernatural force pulling the strings.
The result is straightforward: a hostage setup that escalates into true hell on earth. There’s no clever redemption arc, just escalating cruelty and the creeping sense that nobody’s in control, not even the people holding the keys. If you can stomach grim horror, 1978 has teeth.

WM-Finale. Argentinien gegen Holland. Und während die Leute jubeln oder fluchen, holen eine Gruppe Folterer junge Leute aus einem Haus raus. Erst wirkt es wie ein klassisches Albtraum-Szenario der Militärdiktatur. Dann kippt alles. Die Entführten sind nicht die, die man eigentlich gesucht hat. Ergebnis: statt „kurzer Verhör-Umweg“ ein Komplettabsturz ins Martyrium.
Denn das „Gefängnis“ entpuppt sich als Ort, an dem normale Logik ausgesetzt wird. Ein makabrer Kult spielt die Regie, und eine unbekannte übernatürliche Macht entscheidet, wer wann leidet. Das Ganze ist keine feine Moralstunde, sondern Horror mit politischem Dreck und einem Gefühl wie kalte Atemluft im Nacken. Wer Torture-Porno erwartet, bekommt eher etwas Schlimmeres. Horror, der die Hölle nicht erklärt, sondern einfach zeigt.
