Forget the “politics, but make it exciting” routine. Henry Fonda for President is a documentary essay that treats Henry Fonda like a lens instead of a headline. His quiet presence is the trick. The movie blends him with his own roles until “Henry Fonda” starts feeling like a shifting character inside America’s messy self-image. One second you’re tracking the country’s history, the next you’re stuck with the discomfort of what those stories leave out. The film even leans on his last 1981 interview voice, using it like a steady pulse while the narrative bounces across eras, including the presidency-era vibe. Smart, a little sly, and somehow more intimate than it has any right to be.
----------
Henry Fonda for President ist kein klassischer Politfilm.
