Plainclothes is what happens when “operation” meets real life and real life wins. A young undercover cop is tasked with luring and arresting gay men, no feelings, no questions. Naturally, he then falls for one of his targets. That’s the whole spark. The rest is the messy aftermath: professional orders vs. the very human impulse to care about the person you’re supposed to catch.

And just when it feels like it can’t get more uncomfortable, the story drifts into a hunt for a missing letter on New Year’s Eve. It’s not as random as it sounds. That search drags old memories back into the light and makes every “just doing my job” excuse start to wobble.

Good news: this isn’t polished moralizing. It’s personal, tense, and quietly nasty in the best way.

Untercover-Polizei klingt nach glattem Plan. Plainclothes macht daraus eher ein schlechtes Gewissen. Ein junger Undercover-Mann soll andere anlocken und am Ende einkassieren. Und dann passiert das Problem, das es im Drehbuch eigentlich nicht geben dürfte: Er verliebt sich ausgerechnet in einen seiner Targets. Plötzlich kippt „Dienst nach Vorschrift“ in echte Gefühle. Dazu kommt der Nebenplot mit der Suche nach einem verlorenen Brief, ausgerechnet an Silvester. Klingt erstmal harmlos, wird aber schnell zum Türöffner für alte Erinnerungen und für die Frage, was passiert, wenn man sich selbst verrät, nur um seinen Job zu behalten.

Wenn du Filme magst, die nicht nur Spannung liefern, sondern auch moralisch unangenehm werden.
