Fifteen years after walking away from the CIA to start a family, Emily and Matt are living proof that “retirement” in spy movies is mostly wishful thinking. Their cover finally gets exposed, and suddenly the home life they built starts looking like a very expensive decoy.
„Back in Action“ leans into that classic setup: two former agents trying to go back to doing dangerous stuff while pretending they have everything under control. The movie treats it like a problem you can solve with enough quick decisions and the right kind of panic. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it feels like the script is winging it, too.
Critics weren’t exactly cheering. With a Rotten Tomatoes score of 30% and a Metascore of 46%, this is not a prestige lock. But if you’re in the mood for slick, throwback spy mayhem with a wink and a few “are we really doing this?” moments, it’s worth a shot.

„Back in Action“ ist der Film, der so tut, als wäre Spy-Alltag nur ein bisschen Staub wischen. Emily und Matt sind 15 Jahre lang aus dem CIA-Umfeld raus, haben ein Familienleben aufgebaut und dachten offenbar, Geheimnisse würden irgendwann wie Socken verschwinden. Spoiler: Nein. Als ihre Tarnung auffliegt, werden sie zurück in die Kälte gezerrt. Nicht zu einem eleganten Ruhestand-Spin, sondern zu dem ganzen Chaos, das kommt, wenn aus Ex-Agenten wieder Vollzeit-Störsender werden.
Und ja, der Ton ist „wir haben es ja nicht nötig“. Genau deshalb macht es Spaß, zuzusehen, wie die beiden versuchen, Spionage mit Elternalltag und einem Hauch Kontrollverlust zusammenzuparken. Der Rotten-Tomatoes-Score liegt bei 30%. Trotzdem: Wenn du Action-Comedy mit leicht schräger Logik magst, könnte das hier dein Mischmasch sein.
