Well over 450,000 devotees are expected to take part in this year's annual Baishatun Mazu Pilgrimage.

00:08That's up from 2025, when registrations reached 330,000, and hundreds of thousands more joined along the route.
00:16The annual pilgrimage is one of Taiwan's most important religious events,
00:20and these devotees follow a statue of the sea goddess Mazu for hundreds of kilometers across Taiwan.
00:26President Lai Ching De and multiple city and county leaders are also expected to take part.
00:31The pilgrimage will kick off in Mali near midnight on Sunday and last for around eight days.
