Eli and Danny don’t exactly have a “plan” for New Year’s Eve. They have a vibe, a little adrenaline, and one very specific goal. Eli wants to kiss Laura at midnight. Danny mostly wants everyone to stop making eye contact and maybe survive the night.
So when Laura shows up at the party hosted by Soccer Chris, they crash it. Hard. For a moment it’s the usual high-school mayhem. Then the clock hits midnight, they get that kiss… and the power goes out. Just like that. The night immediately escalates into something darker, with a death on the dance floor.
But the real problem isn’t the tragedy. The entire electronics situation turns feral. Toy cars, video recorders, microwaves, even Tamagotchis start acting like they’re trying to personally end their warranty period. Congrats, you’re watching a party turn into a full-on, ridiculous survival mess.

Eli und Danny sind Highschool-Nichtsnutze mit einem einzigen Lebensziel: Silvester nicht komplett vergeigen. Eli will Laura um Mitternacht küssen, Danny nickt nur und hofft auf das Beste. Klar, dass es klappt. Also zumindest bis Laura auf der Party von „Soccer Chris“ auftaucht und die beiden sich kurzerhand in die Menge mogeln.
Dann passiert der Albtraum-Plot-Twist, den man eigentlich nur als Meme verkauft. Um Punkt zwölf knistert die Situation kurz. Stromausfall. Und plötzlich: ein Toter. Als wäre das nicht schlimm genug, rastet die ganze Elektronik aus. Videorekorder, Mikrowellen, Spielzeugautos, sogar Tamagotchis machen mit. Die Party wird zum Chaos-Überlebensspiel. Y2K ist also nicht nur Zeitgeist. Es ist ein technischer Horrorfilm mit Ketchup-Momenten und Teenie-Panik.
