A widow named Kathy thinks the holidays are just cold weather and bad timing. Then her magic scarf does the unthinkable and brings a snowman to life. Yes, an actual, functioning snowman. And yes, he’s ridiculously charming for something that is literally programmed to melt.

What follows is the kind of romantic comfort movie where healing happens through smiles, small moments, and the warm glow of Christmas cheer. The catch is right there in the premise. He’s sweet and innocent, but he’s also doomed. So every bonding scene comes with an invisible timer, like the movie is asking, “Cool, but can you fall in love fast enough?”

At IMDB 5.6 it’s not exactly breaking cinematic records, but Rotten Tomatoes gives it a surprisingly decent score. Translation: it’s fluffy, heartfelt, and mostly there to make you feel warm, even if it’s a little silly.

Kathy ist Witwe, und der Winter tut halt so, als wäre er freundlich. Dann passiert das Unvermeidliche. Ihr Zauberschal lässt einen Schneemann lebendig werden. Nicht irgendein Klumpen Eis mit Knopfnase, sondern irgendwie… zu attraktiv. Und weil das Weihnachtsuniversum offenbar Regeln hasst, beginnt zwischen Kathy und ihrem schmelzgefährdeten Gefährten dieses weiche, romantische Wieder-Anfangen. Nur leider hat die Sache einen Ablaufdatum-Effekt: Irgendwann schmilzt er. Also heißt die Frage nicht, ob sie sich freuen kann, sondern ob Gefühle rechtzeitig landen, bevor alles zur Pfütze wird.

"Hot Frosty" ist wie eine gemütliche Weihnachtsdecke, die an ein bisschen Magie und ein bisschen Gefühlskitsch erinnert. Leicht, warm, und mit dem Blick auf die Uhr.
