PIECE BY PIECE takes Pharrell Williams’ life story and does the one thing you’d never expect from a music biopic. It turns him into a LEGO character and builds his career out of colorful bricks. Yes, it’s basically an animated highlight reel of how he went from a young music dreamer to a pop and fashion icon. The tone is playful on purpose, like it wants you to relax and just watch the pieces click into place. Is it subtle? Not really. Is it fun? Definitely. Some scenes feel like they’re designed to sparkle rather than sink their teeth in, but that’s the point. If you’re down for a creative, slightly ridiculous (in the best way) take on success, this one delivers.

Das Ganze wirkt bewusst verspielt, manchmal auch ein bisschen wie ein „zu viel Farbe, zu wenig Pause“. Aber genau da liegt der Reiz. Du siehst Stationen seiner Karriere als bunte Sets. Manche Ideen zünden, andere sind eher Deko. Trotzdem macht es Spaß, wenn das Leben der Style-Agenda nachgebaut wird und die Motivation dabei nicht komplett aus dem Rahmen fällt.
