A bus ride to Sri Hazur Sahib, and suddenly everyone’s prayers start sharing the same air. Gurmukhi Singh hails from a small village in Punjab, but the real story isn’t the destination. It’s who ends up next to him on the trip. Gurdial Singh, for example. Sehaj’s father returns from Canada after years, trying to make sense of the kind of problems that don’t disappear just because you cross an ocean.
On the bus you also get Santi and her daughter-in-law Kamal, who is visually impaired, and Sadhu Singh, the one the society rejects like he’s bad luck. Then there’s Gurjant Singh and Surjeet Kaur, hoping for an “innocent girl,” because some people cope by turning wishes into plans.
By the time the journey is done, those separate Ardaas start looking a lot less personal. It’s basically faith doing group project.

Ein Bus ins Herz des Punjab. Keine große Show, nur Menschen, die mit ihrem eigenen Kram zu Sri Hazur Sahib fahren. Gurmukhi Singh ist dabei, und unter den Mitpilgern sitzt auch Gurdial Singh. Der kommt aus Kanada zurück, um für Sehaj endlich das zu sortieren, was Jahre lang liegen geblieben ist. Dazu Santi mit Schwiegertochter Kamal, deren Sehbehinderung den Alltag ordentlich durcheinanderwirft. Dann Sadhu Singh, von der Gesellschaft aussortiert. Und das Paar Gurjant Singh und Surjeet Kaur, die sich an ein „unschuldiges Mädchen“ klammern, als wäre es ein Ticket in die richtige Richtung.
Was daraus wird: Erst private Gebete. Dann ein Ardaas, das plötzlich allen gehört. Religiös, ja, aber vor allem menschlich und erstaunlich unromantisch in der Art, wie es Hoffnung organisiert.
