00:00Juan Soto, you have the news there, Pete?
00:03I do.
00:04Go ahead.
00:05Has been placed on the 10-day IL retroactive to 4-4, which is April 4th.
00:11Thanks.
00:11Ron and Mauricio getting called up.
00:12Nice.
00:13And Mauricio getting called up.
00:14There are those that believe the Mets are a better team without Juan Soto.
00:17Well, the offense certainly woke up without him.
00:19Yeah, it's like, hey, wait a minute.
00:21Our best player's not playing.
00:23Maybe I'll get a couple hits today.
00:24This is the smart thing to do, though.
00:26It's smart.
00:26He's going to want to play through it.
00:27Especially in this weather.
00:29Don't even, especially in the weather, don't even allow him to have the argument.
00:33Don't let him come into Mendoza's room and office and be like, look, I feel great.
00:37I could play tonight.
00:38That's the kind of player he is.
00:39He's going to want to play through it.
00:41Calfs are tricky.
00:42Any of these soft tissue injuries are tricky.
00:44Even if he feels great, give him a week.
00:46It's early on in the season.
00:48The offense just exploded without him.
00:50I think this is absolutely the right move for the Mets.
00:52Give him a week off.
00:53He's too important to mess with.
00:55I agree.
00:55So they're saying typically this is about two weeks.
00:57Yeah.
00:58So 10 days on the AL.
01:00That's about, it's a week and a half.
01:02Yeah.
01:02From the 4th.
01:03So he's got to be back on the 14th.
01:05What's today?
01:05April 6th.
01:06That's eight days from today.
01:07Yeah.
01:08That's 10 days without playing.
01:09It's a lot of time without your best player.
01:11To be fair, the New York Mets offense suddenly woke up against San Francisco and played much
01:18better, obviously.
01:19And they get another series win out there in California.
01:23From the Giants.
01:24You saw Bichette kind of wake up and had multiple hits, I think, in all three wins or whatever.
01:30But he was coming through a run as a scoring position.
01:33Polanco broke out of his slump a little bit with a couple of hits yesterday.
01:35And then, obviously, what you're getting from Vientos has been just incredible.
01:41Yeah.
01:41But that's the bad news.
01:43Soto is out for the next at least 10 days.
01:45Well, until April 14th.
01:47Retroactive to Saturday, April 4th.
01:49I think, I don't know if you saw that coming or not, but I think when you consider the weather,
01:53when you consider the fact that their offense woke up, I know it's against San Francisco.
01:58And we'll see how long that manager lasts there, the guy from college, who has not looked good thus far.
02:05It's not good if you're a Mets fan, because Juan Sutter's your best player.
02:09But I think it's the right thing to do.
02:11And, obviously, that calf didn't get any better.
02:14You know, now you have to be concerned about an Achilles.
02:16Well, I mean, I guess.
02:17We haven't seen that same trend.
02:19We've seen it much more in basketball and football than we have seen in baseball,
02:21where the calf goes to the Achilles.
02:23But no doubt, that's part of the concern.
02:26They are connected.
02:27Yeah.
02:27I double-checked this morning.
02:28I was playing Operation by myself.
02:31I won, by the way.
02:32And I realized that in the game of Operation, that, yes, the calf is very close, you might know,
02:38to the Achilles, which is why everyone gets afraid.
02:41You know, if he tries to push off in the batter's box to go on to first base,
02:45you know, oh, my God, there goes the Achilles.
02:46And then you lose your best player for the year.
02:48Exactly right.
02:49That's why.
