00:00Fabulous machine as our warriors faced gunfire at very close range.
00:06It's amazing that when you look at the machinery what happened that nobody was even injured.
00:14Meanwhile, the second crew member, a weapons system officer, a highly respected colonel,
00:20had landed a significant distance away from the pilot when you're going at those speeds.
00:24Even if you go out two or three seconds later, it's miles. It's miles and miles away because you're going
00:32fast.
00:33He was injured quite badly and stranded in an area teeming with terrorists from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps,
00:41a rough group, as well as besieged militia and local authorities.
00:48Many, on top of everything else, they told the communities, actually, withinside of Iran, the people of Iran,
00:58they were given a tremendous incentive to find this pilot.
01:03Despite the peril, the officer followed his training and climbed into the treacherous mountain terrain
01:09and started climbing toward a higher altitude, something they were trained to do in order to evade capture.
01:18They want to always go as far away from the site of the shoot down.
01:25You want to go as far away because they all head right to that site.
01:28You want to be as far away as you can.
01:31And he was injured and he was an amazing, amazing thing.
01:35He scaled cliff faces, bleeding rather profusely, treated his own wounds and contacted American forces to transmit his location.
01:46They have a very sophisticated beeper type apparatus that is on them at all times.
01:56And when they, when they go out on these missions, they make sure they have lots of battery space and
02:01they're in good shape.
02:03And this one worked really well, amazingly, saved his life.
02:07We immediately mobilized a massive operation to retrieve him from the mountain holdout.
02:15And he kept going higher and higher.
02:17The mountain kept getting rougher and rougher and really very, very hard to find.
02:21The second rescue mission involved 155 aircraft, including four bombers, 64 fighters, 48 refueling tankers, 13 rescue aircraft and more.
02:34We were bringing them all over and a lot of it was subterfuge.
02:39We wanted to have them think he was in a different location because they had a vast military force out
02:45there.
02:46Thousands, thousands of people were looking.
02:49So we wanted them to look in different areas.
02:51So we were scattered all over like we were right on top of them.
02:56We had seven different locations where they thought and they were very confused.
03:00They said, well, wait a minute.
03:01They've got groups here.
03:03They've got groups there.
03:04It's an amazing thing.
03:06I was listening to these great people, these great generals.
03:12General Raisin Cain was amazing.
03:14And Pete Hexeth was amazing.
03:16But I listened to the whole thing.
03:17It was pretty amazing.
03:19So they had all these different sites where everybody thought he was located.
03:23We think we have them over there because they have nine planes circling a little area.
03:28That's 25 miles down the coast.
03:32So in a breathtaking show of skill and precision, lethality and force, America's military descended
03:39on the area, the real area, engaged the enemy, rescued the stranded officer, destroyed all
03:47threats and exited Iranian territory while taking no casualties of any kind.
03:53Great people.
