00:05Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're looking at the most hilarious SNL sketches that make fun of any type of
00:11TV series.
00:23SNL has been sending up Stranger Things since its debut.
00:26Almost a decade later, Finn Wolfhard hosted shortly after the hit Netflix series came to its natural conclusion.
00:32Of course, is Netflix really gonna allow a brand as popular as Stranger Things to gracefully bow out?
00:43Unlikely, if this sketch is any indication.
00:45With spinoffs about Steve becoming a tough-as-nails teacher, Nancy making it as a journalist, and Mike turning into
00:50the male Carrie Bradshaw,
00:52no idea is too creatively bankrupt.
00:53At least Gaten Matarazzo and Caleb McLaughlin come back for Wolfhard's show.
00:57And before you get all mad and go, how come Will isn't in that?
01:01It's because his coming-out scene is still going on!
01:04As over-the-top as some of these pitches are, SNL did nail Will's coming-out scene.
01:08We'd also totally watch their version of Conformity Gate, even if Keenan has to fill in for Millie.
01:13Number 29. Seinfeld in Oz.
01:16Parodying Seinfeld and Oz.
01:18People still take issue with the Seinfeld finale, which saw the characters being sent to jail for a year.
01:22If you thought that wasn't a fitting farewell for the foursome, Seinfeld could have left us on a much grimmer
01:28note.
01:28This pre-taped SNL segment reveals that Jerry was subsequently sent to another prison, Oswald State Correctional Facility.
01:35What is with this place? It's so clicky.
01:38On the other hand, I kind of like the hole.
01:39In addition to featuring actors from Oz like J.K. Simmons, the parody perfectly blends the styles and tones of
01:45two very different shows.
01:47The setting is bleak, hostile, and takes no prisoners.
01:50Yet Jerry is still Jerry, dwelling on the mundane side of prison life while casually brushing off the atrocities occurring
01:56around him.
01:57You alright?
01:59Yeah, I'm good.
02:01There's no turndown service, is there?
02:03The fact that Jerry has cereal boxes in his cell is a nice touch.
02:07Number 28. Sex and the City.
02:09Parodying Sex and the City.
02:10Airing a day before the actual Sex and the City finale, this SNL parody would predict a few details.
02:15The worst thing about going abroad was that I miss the other broads.
02:19And my brood of broads was broadly brooding over me.
02:24Carrie, played here by Amy Poehler, would leave Alexander in Paris and get back together with Big.
02:29Charlotte, played by Maya Rudolph, would adopt a baby with Harry.
02:32Miranda, played by Rachel Dratch, would become the worst by the time and just like that came out.
02:37The one thing that doesn't come to fruition is the Samantha twist, which really wouldn't fly today.
02:42That doesn't take away from the spot-on impression by Christina Aguilera.
02:45Who channels Kim Cattrall to the point where we can't differentiate one from the other.
02:49I'm fine.
02:51This whole time we thought you were dying, you were having a ball.
02:55Even if parts of the sketch are problematic, it's still pretty pun-tastic.
02:59Much like the show it's parodying.
03:01Number 27. The White POTUS.
03:04Parodying The White Lotus.
03:05Privileged kids, a trophy wife, and a patriarch who isn't as good with money as he claims.
03:10Yeah, we're not sure how SNL made the correlation between the Ratliff's and Trump's either.
03:14Hun? Donald? You getting ready?
03:19Hello? Earth to Donald?
03:23It's your wife Melania, are you okay?
03:26In this parody of the HBO social satire, they go together like wine and lorazepam.
03:31James Austin Johnson's Trump is dead on as always,
03:34while Chloe Feynman demonstrates serious layers,
03:37doing an impression of Parker Posey as Melania Trump.
03:39Even if Sarah Sherman's portrayal of Amy Lou Wood garnered some backlash,
03:43the sketch otherwise cleverly merges pop culture and politics,
03:46as we see how the first family and their closest friends would fit right in at The White Lotus.
03:51Hey, what's the matter, baby?
03:54Vladimir!
03:56I think we're all having weird dreams.
03:58The Black Lotus would not put up with the Trump Bunch's nonsense, however.
04:02Number 26, Fresh Prince, parodying The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
04:06As the song goes, Will Smith's life got flipped turned upside down
04:09when he was sent to live with his relatives in Bel-Air.
04:12In this iteration, it doesn't just get flipped.
04:14I looked at my kingdom, I was finally there
04:17to sit on my throne as the Prince of Bel-Air.
04:19Will's world is thrown into complete disarray
04:21as the gang from West Philly tracks him down across the country,
04:24seeking retribution.
04:26While still maintaining the upbeat sound of the Fresh Prince theme,
04:29Chris Redd's will details how he went into hiding,
04:31faked his death with a redhead who ultimately sells him out,
04:34and winds up living in the woods under another alias.
04:37And if anybody asks, just sit right there and tell him how he came.
04:41Jasper Mitchell of White Ridge, New Hampshire.
04:43This dark take on a nostalgic sitcom
04:45would ironically foreshadow the dramatic Bel-Air reimagining,
04:48which in turn inspired SNL's gritty reboot of Family Matters.
04:52Number 25, Twin Peaks, parodying Twin Peaks.
04:55Kyle MacLachlan hosted SNL ahead of the Twin Peaks Season 2 premiere.
04:59The question still on everybody's mind was,
05:01who killed Laura Palmer?
05:03Some may call Special Agent Dale Cooper's approach to the case unorthodox.
05:07Cooper, listen.
05:08Leo confessed. Leo turned himself in.
05:11Well, that's good news, Harry.
05:12Another piece of the puzzle.
05:13Won't be long now.
05:14Others may call his methods just plain dumb,
05:16especially when the answer is staring him in the face.
05:19Cooper is informed that they caught the killer.
05:21It's Leo Johnson, played by Chris Farley in his first SNL sketch ever.
05:26Despite the overwhelming evidence, including a confession from Leo,
05:29Cooper would rather partake in nonsensical lynchisms.
05:32He also flirts with SNL's female cast members.
05:35All two of them.
05:37I just wanted to say goodbye, Agent Cooper.
05:40I want you to take this with you.
05:43I just have to finish wrapping it.
05:45In a way, Cooper is right.
05:48We won't spoil who killed Laura in the actual series,
05:50but it wasn't Leo.
05:56For decades, clip shows were a cost-cutting sitcom staple.
05:59When Justine Bateman hosted,
06:01she shared a preview of a Family Ties flashback episode.
06:04Bateman naturally reprises her role as Mallory,
06:06but the scene-stealer is Dana Carvey
06:08as the best Michael J. Fox
06:10other than the real Michael J. Fox.
06:12Yeah, don't get sentimental at a crucial stage like this.
06:16I guess Alex is right.
06:18For once.
06:19Like other clip shows,
06:20the episode centers on the Keatons
06:22reminiscing about past events
06:23as they face a potential life-altering change.
06:26The difference is that they exclusively flashback
06:28to other flashback episodes.
06:30What unfolds is a memory within a memory
06:33within another memory within a Jefferson's episode.
06:35Don't worry about that.
06:37Florence will help me straighten it up.
06:39Hey, remember when we first hired Florence?
06:43It's like Inception before Inception.
06:45Of course, everything reverts to the status quo,
06:47making the clip show feel even more pointless
06:50than it already was.
06:51Saved money, though.
06:52Number 23.
06:53Inventing Chloe.
06:54Parodying Inventing Anna.
06:56In 2022, everyone was doing an impression of Anna Delvey.
07:00More specifically,
07:01they were doing an impression of Julia Garner
07:03doing an impression of Anna Delvey.
07:05Arguably, nobody did a better impersonation
07:07of Garner's Delvey than Chloe Fineman.
07:09What is that voice?
07:10My sandwich is in your mouth.
07:12Give me my sandwich.
07:14Okay, yeah, sorry.
07:16I didn't know.
07:17Fineman finds that Delvey's hard-to-pin-down accent
07:20holds a special influence over people,
07:22making them do whatever she wants.
07:23Adopting Delvey's look to go with the voice,
07:26Fineman uses her power for evil,
07:28taking roles from other cast members
07:29while ruining a page's life.
07:31Like Delvey,
07:32Fineman eventually spirals,
07:34requiring Kate McKinnon to bring her back down to Earth.
07:37Chloe, you don't have to do this.
07:39The hair, the glasses,
07:41the Russian accent,
07:42it's also German.
07:43You don't need all that.
07:44You just gotta be confident, you know?
07:46There's only room for one Delvey at Studio 8H, though,
07:49and Kate usurps Chloe as the resident VIP.
07:52Number 22.
07:53The Weakest Link.
07:54Parodying The Weakest Link.
07:56While the American version of The Weakest Link
07:58recently saw a revival,
08:00it's hard to recapture what host Anne Robinson
08:02brought to the game show in the early 2000s.
08:04Contestants like you make me realize
08:06that mandatory sterilization programs
08:09aren't such a bad idea.
08:10For many viewers,
08:12the show's main draw wasn't its trivia.
08:14It was watching Robinson sardonically throw shade
08:16at the contestants.
08:17Rachel Dratch's Robinson took trolling a step beyond,
08:20eventually ditching the questions altogether
08:22in favor of roasting the players.
08:24From Yo Mama jokes to flipping the bird,
08:26Robinson is relentless.
08:28She may seem cruel,
08:29but it turns out that Robinson has a tragic origin story.
08:32And Anne,
08:33since you answered the fewest number of trivia questions correctly,
08:37you are the weakest link.
08:40Goodbye.
08:42You see,
08:42her family could only afford to feed so many mouths.
08:45One of the children had to go,
08:46and unfortunately for Anne,
08:48she was the weakest link.
08:50Number 21.
08:51Quentin Tarantino's Welcome Back, Cotter.
08:53Parodying Welcome Back, Cotter.
08:55Over nearly two decades,
08:56audiences watched John Travolta evolve
08:58from Vinnie Barbarino to Vincent Vega.
09:01The two characters merge in this reimagining
09:03of Welcome Back, Cotter
09:04if Quentin Tarantino created it.
09:06Oh my God,
09:07Mr. Cotter,
09:07I thought you was gonna die,
09:09I swear.
09:09As was the case with Reservoir Dogs
09:11and Pulp Fiction,
09:12the most casual conversations can end
09:14in somebody getting tortured
09:16set to an ironic song selection.
09:18In addition to juggling the two Vincents,
09:20there's a touch of Vic Vega
09:21in Travolta's performance.
09:22Fitting, as Tarantino confirmed
09:24that Vincent and Vic are brothers.
09:26In case you were wondering
09:27where Mr. Pink went,
09:28Steve Buscemi resurfaces
09:29at the end of the sketch
09:30for a final shootout.
09:32Okay, up your hole with a mellow roll.
09:34Mr. Cotter is the last man standing,
09:37but we're not sure he'll be back after this.
09:39Number 20.
09:40Burn Your Enthusiasm.
09:41Parodying Curb Your Enthusiasm.
09:43Bernie Sanders and Larry David
09:45might just be the same person.
09:47Or at least,
09:48that's what the internet wants to think.
09:49Cindy, I can't believe
09:52how many people are here.
09:54It's a revolution, Jane.
09:55Millions of people.
09:56If we have a good turnout,
09:58we can win Iowa.
09:59Saturday Night Live
10:00buys into this theory
10:01by casting David as the senator
10:02in a parody of Curb Your Enthusiasm.
10:05He has a few signature Larry moments,
10:07refusing to shake a supporter's hand
10:09and not wanting to be bothered
10:10by other people's problems.
10:12Can you just pop it back in?
10:17Are you nuts?
10:18No, it's easy.
10:19Just pop it back in.
10:21No, I...
10:21Go to a hospital.
10:23I don't pop...
10:24I'm not a popper.
10:25The combination of both personalities
10:27makes for an endless series of jokes
10:29about being a stubborn old man.
10:31What if I like 0.2%?
10:33Come on.
10:330.2%?
10:34What?
10:34How many people is that?
10:35Seeing Sanders' life turned into an HBO show
10:38never fails to be funny,
10:40giving the writers enough material
10:42to create a believable episode of television.
10:45Number 19.
10:45The People's Court
10:46Parodying The People's Court
10:48Fans of daytime television
10:50will love this parody
10:51of the long-running court show.
10:53Instead of taking a look at a normal case,
10:55the SNL version covers a ridiculous case
10:58between a hairdresser and the devil.
10:59I have here a copy of the contract.
11:05I see that it is written in blood.
11:08The joke revolves around a comical deal
11:10that the former made with Mephistopheles.
11:12Several details,
11:14such as a contract written in blood
11:15and other surprises,
11:16make this even funnier,
11:18providing an accurate procedure
11:19that mirrors the real program.
11:21They even manage to capture
11:23the wild arguments that ensue
11:24between defendants and plaintiffs.
11:26What about throwing all that garbage in our yard?
11:28What was that?
11:29I did not put garbage in your yard.
11:31Well, who hit my car in the parking lot?
11:33It didn't dent by itself.
11:34Now you listen to me.
11:35I'm Mephistopheles, Prince of Darkness.
11:37When I start harassing you,
11:38you'll know it.
11:39John Lovitz's pitch-perfect delivery
11:41and costume only make this even better.
11:44Obey me!
11:46Obey me!
11:48Remember.
11:49Number 18.
11:51The Sopranos Diaries
11:52Parodying The Sopranos
11:54and The Carrie Diaries.
11:56Inspired by The Carrie Diaries
11:58taking a look at a younger Carrie Bradshaw,
12:00SNL applies the same idea to The Sopranos.
12:03Hey, Tone.
12:04Silvio.
12:05Obey.
12:06What do you wear without your face?
12:07The shutter shades.
12:08They're totally rad.
12:10They put the characters in high school
12:11and have them deal with the fads
12:13and fashions of the 80s.
12:15Even though they're teenagers,
12:16the cast hasn't lost any of their aggression
12:18or need to swear.
12:20I want some money for the soda machine.
12:22What do I look like, a f***ing bank?
12:24The sketch pokes fun at the timeline
12:26and the actual logic of the entire concept
12:28with fake critic reviews.
12:30Bobby Moynihan deserves specific praise
12:32for channeling James Gandolfini's
12:34iconic starring performance as Tony Soprano.
12:37Do you want to go to the dance with me?
12:39I would.
12:40I'd like that very much.
12:43That's too beautiful.
12:44I'm gonna moonwalk out of here.
12:46Fans also get to see the head mobster
12:49meet his future wife Carmella
12:50in one of many enjoyable nods
12:52to the acclaimed HBO series.
12:55Number 17.
12:56Kenan and Kelly
12:57Parodying Kenan and Kel
12:59Kids of the 90s will appreciate
13:01this trip down memory lane.
13:03The Nickelodeon classic
13:04Kenan and Kel receives a reboot
13:06courtesy of an ecstatic Kiki Palmer.
13:08Whip this place into shape, huh, Kiki?
13:10Because of me,
13:12Rigby now sells fresh sushi.
13:14Yeah, maybe too fresh?
13:17Uh, Kelly,
13:19I think that salmon you caught
13:22might be a piranha.
13:24The host wants to re-envision the plot
13:26with herself as a star,
13:28bringing in a reluctant Kenan Thompson
13:30to go along with her every request.
13:32Things take a turn
13:33as Palmer's fandom
13:34gets in the way
13:35of producing a decent episode.
13:37Her bizarre catchphrases
13:39and plot ideas
13:40completely change the program's tone
13:42in entertaining ways.
13:43My uncle told her to blame me
13:45for my daddy leaving.
13:46Me!
13:47How you gonna blame a little girl
13:48for that man being a coward?
13:50Ha!
13:52Uh-oh!
13:53Can't come the bus!
13:55With a cameo from Kel Mitchell himself,
13:57this parody is both accurate
13:58to the original show
13:59and willing to make fun
14:01of its original glory.
14:02The show is not good,
14:04but Jordan Gale called us.
14:06He wants us to do a sequel to Nope.
14:08Number 16.
14:09MacGruber.
14:10Parodying MacGyver.
14:12Will Forte's dedicated performance
14:14makes this TV parody
14:15especially funny.
14:17Taking an overdramatic look
14:18at MacGyver,
14:19the performer tries to defuse a bomb
14:21without getting too distracted.
14:2315 seconds!
14:24What are we gonna do, MacGruber?
14:25Okay, first, quick introduction.
14:27Everyone, this is Taylor.
14:28Hi.
14:28I met her at a hookah bar
14:29in Marina Del Rey.
14:3025.
14:31Just go with it.
14:32Every single episode
14:33revolves around the supposed expert
14:35falling prey to some other problem.
14:37Playing off of his trusty companions,
14:40the star is nowhere near as effective
14:42as his 80s counterpart.
14:43Okay, here, MacGruber.
14:44Okay, Vicky,
14:45tell the same guy
14:46that when he dies,
14:47I will scatter his ashes
14:48in my toilet,
14:49and then I will scatter
14:50something else over that.
14:51Oh, good.
14:52I hope you do.
14:53Good, then I will.
14:54Good.
14:54Good.
14:55Good.
14:55Forte's hilarious presence
14:57makes it all work
14:58with his complete inability
14:59to finish the job.
15:01After the last mission,
15:02I heard your concerns,
15:03and now I'm following
15:04all the protocols.
15:05Well, MacGruber,
15:06there's a big hole in your mask.
15:08Uh, yeah,
15:09so I don't suffocate
15:11even though you know it's coming,
15:14the ending explosion
15:15serves as the perfect punchline
15:17to every sketch.
15:18It was such a foolproof idea
15:20that it also inspired
15:21an uproarious movie.
15:23Number 15, Chopped.
15:25Parodying Chopped.
15:27Anybody who watches
15:28The Food Network
15:29knows that Chopped
15:30is one of their mainstay shows.
15:32You did some great cooking out there.
15:33I think either one of us could win.
15:35I think you could win
15:37or I could win.
15:39That's what I just said.
15:40It's also the breeding ground
15:41for tons of jokes
15:42about the format,
15:44the individual contestants,
15:45and the increasingly obscure dishes.
15:48Contestants Leslie Jones
15:49and Melissa Villasenor
15:50compete in a heightened version
15:51of the program
15:52with some questionable ingredients.
15:54Georgina had problems too.
15:55Her appetizer was supposed
15:57to be an artichoke slider.
15:59Yeah, but it was actually
15:59just a kitten on a hamburger bun.
16:01All the while,
16:02judges like Emma Thompson
16:03offer up a dramatic takedown
16:05of the laughable food.
16:06The sketch also has
16:07the two competitors turn violent
16:09with bullets flying across the kitchen.
16:11By the time it comes to a close,
16:13there's even a live cat
16:14to bring the absurd concept home.
16:17Let me know when the cameras are off.
16:20Number 14.
16:21The Muppet Show
16:22Parodying The Muppet Show
16:23For this parody
16:25of the beloved variety series,
16:27Saturday Night Live
16:28decides to spotlight
16:29two characters
16:29that usually interrupt the show.
16:31You all having a good time?
16:35We were,
16:37but then you came out!
16:41Statler and Waldorf
16:42are the two older puppets
16:43that criticize everything
16:44from the balcony,
16:45but they usually
16:46don't receive any pushback.
16:47This sketch
16:48sees two security guards
16:49confront them
16:50several times
16:51before things get physical.
16:59Keegan-Michael Key
17:01beats one of them
17:01to a pulp,
17:03giving the foam-rubber critic
17:04two black eyes
17:05in the process.
17:06Both Key
17:07and Kenan Thompson
17:08can barely hold
17:08in their laughter
17:09as the ornery duo
17:10reel from the violence.
17:12It's a shockingly
17:13hilarious turn
17:14that takes the classic
17:15program to its extreme.
17:16Hey, hey, Kramer!
17:18Kramer!
17:19What?
17:21Hey, Kramer!
17:23You stupid!
17:26Number 13.
17:28Dateline.
17:29Parodying.
17:29Dateline NBC.
17:31While the subjects
17:32in this recurring
17:33parody sketch
17:33are deadly serious,
17:35the presentation
17:36is laugh-out-loud funny.
17:37I was walking
17:38along the lake
17:39one morning
17:40and I saw something
17:41floating on the surface.
17:42Ah.
17:44Was it
17:45Wilson the volleyball?
17:47No, it was an arm.
17:49Ah.
17:51Bill Hader
17:52plays a version
17:53of narrator
17:53Keith Morrison
17:54that seems a little
17:55too entertained
17:56by horrible deaths.
17:57His character
17:58often enjoys
17:59hearing victims'
18:00families and friends
18:01recount their worst moments,
18:02even making odd sounds
18:04to show his excitement.
18:05So it was day two
18:06and we were surrounded
18:07by sharks.
18:09Oh.
18:10What was that like?
18:13It was terrible.
18:15Ah.
18:16Hader's vocal inflections
18:18and awkward interview skills
18:19are just two highlights
18:20in this winning concept.
18:22He even finds time
18:23to commiserate
18:24with the perpetrators
18:24of said crimes,
18:25finding ways to push
18:27his hilarious reactions
18:28to the limit.
18:29What can I say?
18:30I like to kill.
18:31Kill like a comedian
18:32at the Apollo?
18:35No, like murder.
18:36Ah.
18:38It's one of many examples
18:40of haters'
18:41incredible comedic instincts
18:42and impression skills.
18:44Number 12.
18:45Hobbit Office
18:46parodying The Office
18:47If you love
18:49the British version
18:50of The Office
18:50and J.R.R. Tolkien,
18:52you're sure to love
18:53this sketch.
18:53Yeah, so the brave
18:55Hobbit Bilbo Baggins
18:56now works
18:57at a paper company
19:00selling paper loons
19:01over the phone
19:04and I drive a Jetta.
19:05The classic comedy series
19:06receives a pitch-perfect
19:08mash-up with
19:08The Hobbit franchise.
19:09With Office star
19:10Martin Freeman
19:11reprising his role
19:12as Bilbo,
19:13the premise accurately
19:14depicts the grind
19:15of Office culture.
19:26Bobby Moynihan's
19:27David Brent
19:27feels especially inspired
19:29when combined
19:29with Mighty Wizard Gandalf.
19:31Other characters
19:32like Gollum
19:33populate the workplace,
19:34becoming targets
19:35for pranks
19:36and all sorts of nods
19:37to the acclaimed sitcom.
19:38There's also
19:39a holiday party
19:40that takes a turn
19:41after Moynihan's
19:42Wizard starts to dance.
19:43From hilarious testimonials
19:45to great set design
19:46and character moments,
19:47this sketch has
19:48more than enough
19:49to satisfy fans
19:50of both franchises.
19:58Number 11.
20:00More Cowbell
20:00parodying
20:01Behind the Music
20:02As iconic
20:04as this sketch is,
20:05some people forget
20:06that it's a parody
20:07of the documentary series
20:08Behind the Music.
20:09By the way,
20:10my name is
20:11Bruce Dickinson.
20:12Yes,
20:13the Bruce Dickinson.
20:20This particular program
20:22follows Blue Oyster Cult
20:23during their recording
20:24of Don't Fear the Reaper.
20:26Will Ferrell
20:26really plays
20:27the cowbell
20:28after some encouragement
20:29from producer
20:29Christopher Walken.
20:39Both performers
20:40bring total dedication
20:41and energy
20:42to this sketch,
20:43with Ferrell's
20:44legendary moves
20:45almost derailing
20:46the sketch
20:46for being so outrageous.
20:47By the time
20:48Walken comes back
20:49with an iconic line,
20:51half of the cast
20:52is already holding
20:52back laughter.
20:53Guess what?
20:55I got a fever
20:56and the only prescription
20:58is more cowbells.
21:00It also stands
21:02as an incredibly funny look
21:03at the show
21:04that captures bands
21:05at their breaking point.
21:06Number 10.
21:07Jon Snow Resurrection
21:09parodying
21:09Game of Thrones.
21:11Well,
21:12Jon Snow is dead.
21:14Yes,
21:15is that for good?
21:16There is no escaping
21:17the wild popularity
21:19that is HBO's
21:20television adaptation
21:21of George R.R. Martin's
21:22book series
21:23A Song of Ice and Fire.
21:24Being one of the top
21:25intellectual properties
21:26in pop culture today,
21:28this, of course,
21:29opens the door
21:29to criticism
21:30and in this case,
21:32zany ridicule.
21:33First,
21:33I must wash his body.
21:36That's part of the magic
21:37for sure.
21:38Not yet.
21:40Poking fun
21:41at Jon Snow's
21:42Resurrection,
21:43SNL's version of the scene
21:44begins to play out
21:45almost identically
21:45to how it does
21:46in the show.
21:47Only this time,
21:48two others in attendance
21:49repeatedly interrupt
21:50the dramatic revival.
21:52Jon's Resurrection
21:52is meant to be
21:53an epic moment,
21:54so it's incredibly
21:55hilarious for every
21:56dramatic high
21:56to be continually
21:57undercut by the two women,
21:59one of whom is played
21:59by host Brie Larson,
22:01just wanting to speed
22:02things up
22:02and get them over with.
22:03You guys,
22:03we only get 10 hours
22:04of this a year,
22:05people,
22:06and we spent two
22:06in this room.
22:07Number 9.
22:08The Last Voyage
22:09of the Starship Enterprise,
22:11parodying Star Trek.
22:12Captain Kirk.
22:15Yes, Mr. Spock.
22:18Jon Belushi
22:19takes command
22:20of the Enterprise
22:20as an even more
22:21eccentric and delirious
22:22Captain Kirk,
22:23if that was even possible,
22:24in this satirical crack
22:26at the original
22:26Star Trek series.
22:27Literally no element
22:29of the show
22:29is left without a gag,
22:30as phasers,
22:31beamers,
22:32evasive maneuvers,
22:33and both Spock
22:34and Kirk's quirky
22:35characteristics
22:35have a joke
22:36written around them.
22:47The most outlandish
22:49and hilarious part
22:49is near the end
22:50of the skit,
22:50when Kirk and his crew
22:51come into contact
22:52with Herb Goodman,
22:53head of the network.
22:55In an extremely
22:56meta situation,
22:57Kirk faces off
22:58against his greatest enemy,
22:59low ratings.
23:01Matters escalate quickly
23:02as we watch
23:03the set of the show
23:03shut down,
23:04all with Kirk slash Shatner
23:06never returning to reality.
23:08So that's how it is,
23:09huh?
23:10Just me, huh?
23:11Number 8.
23:11A Different View,
23:13parodying The View.
23:15Can I just say something?
23:17As the princess of Arizona.
23:20While there are certainly
23:21a large number of fans
23:22of this extremely
23:23energetic daytime talk show,
23:25there are an equal
23:26number of detractors
23:27who feel it's nothing
23:28more than minutes on end
23:29of ear-ringing bickering.
23:30SNL recognizes this fact,
23:32pulling no punches
23:34whatsoever
23:34in taking playful jabs
23:36at each of the leading
23:36ladies on the program.
23:38Say that.
23:38What can you let me finish?
23:39What can you let me talk?
23:40What can you let me finish?
23:41What can you let me talk?
23:42Because it's actually
23:43your job to listen to me.
23:46Utilizing their
23:47excessive rants,
23:48feelings of authority
23:49towards each other,
23:50and exaggerated factual claims
23:52to get their points across
23:52to great comedic effect,
23:54SNL really knocked it
23:55out of the park
23:56with this sketch.
23:57You know you did
23:58a parody right
23:58when even the members
24:00of The View themselves
24:00say they enjoyed
24:01the satire of their tirades.
24:03Number 7.
24:04Farm Hunk
24:05parodying
24:06The Bachelor franchise.
24:08So Alyssa,
24:08tell me about yourself.
24:10I mean,
24:11who is Alyssa?
24:12The Bachelor is a popular
24:13point of parody for SNL,
24:15as seen in their
24:15literal shot-for-shock
24:17mockery of the season finale
24:18from that year.
24:19Arguably the best
24:20stab taken at it
24:21was when SNL
24:22switched tuxedos
24:23for overalls
24:24in an exaggeration
24:25of the competitive lengths
24:26that the ladies will go to
24:27in order to capture
24:28the affection
24:29of a farmer heartthrob.
24:30In Iowa,
24:31you can't teach.
24:32There's no schools
24:33in my town.
24:35I love that.
24:36The women,
24:37clearly having little clue
24:38what they're talking about,
24:39ask him absurdly obvious questions.
24:42Even more hilarious
24:43are the statements
24:43that should obviously
24:44be turn-offs he makes,
24:46all while the ladies
24:47continue to stare at him
24:48with googly eyes,
24:49spoofing how agreeable
24:50the women on the actual show
24:52are and how much
24:53they like that.
24:54My town is really ugly
24:56and stinky
24:56and far away
24:57from things.
24:58I love that.
24:59Number 6.
25:00Undercover Boss
25:01Starkiller Base
25:03parodying Undercover Boss.
25:05You get so caught up
25:06in restoring the galaxy
25:07to its rightful state
25:08that you miss
25:09what's going on
25:10behind the scenes.
25:11The Force Awakens
25:11was crushing
25:12the box office
25:13a few years back,
25:14just like how Kylo Ren
25:16was crushing the universe
25:17with the might
25:17of his military.
25:18But have you ever wondered
25:19what it takes
25:20to run a military
25:21like the First Order?
25:22SNL did,
25:22and they tackled
25:23the thought
25:24with this offbeat
25:25combination of
25:25Undercover Boss
25:26and a galaxy
25:27far, far away.
25:28Hi, I'm Matt.
25:31I'm a radar technician.
25:33Kylo, played by his
25:35real-life actor
25:35Adam Driver,
25:36disguises himself as Matt
25:38to interact with his
25:39employees,
25:39which provides him
25:40with new insight
25:41as to how everything
25:42works on a day-to-day basis.
25:44It's such a funny use
25:45of the reality TV show
25:46that we partly wish
25:47Star Wars would adopt
25:48the idea as a limited
25:49miniseries
25:50or something to that effect.
25:52That thing looks
25:53dangerous, man.
25:54Poorly made.
25:55Like a little kid made it.
25:56Then you don't have
25:57to look at it anymore!
25:58Number 5.
25:59Family Feud,
26:00Celebrity Edition
26:01Parodying Family Feud.
26:03I'm sorry I don't
26:04look my best,
26:05but my mustache fluffer
26:06is out sick today.
26:08The long-running
26:09American game show
26:10pitting two families
26:11against each other
26:12for an assortment
26:12of luxurious prizes
26:14has had its fair share
26:15of funny moments
26:16and awkward situations.
26:17Well now,
26:18how about we take
26:19the exact same premise
26:20and put it into a show
26:21whose entire purpose
26:22is to be funny?
26:23The world came to know
26:24my voice and les miserables.
26:26You may remember my song.
26:29I love you,
26:30too, for single life!
26:32SNL's take on the feud
26:33is to have celebrities
26:34take on each other
26:34over a bevy
26:35of brain-bending questions.
26:37The catch is,
26:38the celebs on the show
26:39aren't actually themselves,
26:41but rather other famous actors
26:42and comedians
26:43playing satirical versions
26:44of themselves,
26:45resulting in a wickedly funny
26:47recurring SNL skit.
26:48Family Feud
26:49isn't the only game show
26:50SNL poked fun at,
26:51but we'll get to that later.
26:53Drake,
26:53the spotlight is yours.
26:55Is it?
26:57Number 4.
26:58Walking Dead Chappelle Show
27:00parodying
27:01The Walking Dead
27:01and Chappelle Show.
27:08In the real episode
27:10of The Walking Dead,
27:11the sadistic villain Negan
27:12lines up many
27:13of the principal cast
27:13of characters
27:14and savagely
27:15kills off a couple of them.
27:16It was a shocking moment
27:18for fans of the series,
27:19so naturally SNL
27:20saw an opportunity
27:21to take a suspenseful moment
27:23and perform a 180 degree flip,
27:25turning it into complete
27:26and utter lunacy.
27:28You can breathe.
27:30You can blink.
27:32You can cry.
27:34The comedic chops
27:35of funny man Dave Chappelle,
27:36who in this case
27:37portrays Negan,
27:38makes a buffoonery
27:39out of the once-tenth sequence,
27:40with Rick's gang
27:41being swapped out
27:42for characters
27:42that were once
27:43on Dave's own show,
27:44such as Tyrone Biggums
27:45and Clayton Bigsby.
27:47You will never see
27:48the original
27:48the same way again.
27:50I only got two months
27:50until they take away
27:51my health care.
27:52Body, if you will.
27:54Number 3.
27:55The Shooting,
27:56aka Dear Sister,
27:58parodying The O.C.
28:03As if the original scene
28:05that aired during
28:05the season 2 finale
28:06of teen drama The O.C.
28:07wasn't unintentionally
28:08hilarious enough,
28:09SNL cranks it up to 11,
28:11making things
28:12more outrageous than ever.
28:14Utilizing the Imogen Heap song
28:16to drive the comedy forward,
28:17the entirety of the skit
28:18is essentially just repeating
28:20the same gag
28:20over and over again.
28:22But it works wonderfully.
28:23As the story unfolds,
28:25we are holding
28:25our sides with laughter,
28:27anticipating when
28:28the song will kick in,
28:29and when the ludicrous
28:30amount of shooting
28:31occurs again.
28:32To top things all off
28:33is a brilliant ending
28:34that actually pokes fun
28:35at the SNL skit itself,
28:37satirizing how out of control
28:38the situation became.
28:54The wicked wit of Eddie Murphy
28:56was on rapid fire
28:57at the height
28:57of his stand-up career,
28:58and his appearances
28:59on SNL were no exception.
29:01The most notable skit
29:02he produced was arguably
29:03the obvious spoof
29:04of the popular
29:05children's television show
29:06Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood.
29:08Do you know
29:09where drums come from?
29:10From Africa.
29:13He portrayed
29:14his interpretation
29:14of the character
29:15with the same amount
29:16of cheer and friendliness
29:17as the original,
29:18as well as with
29:19a spicy amount
29:20of sarcastic and sly cracks
29:21at social commentary
29:22and racial issues.
29:23It functioned literally
29:24as a more mature take
29:25on Mr. Rogers,
29:26offering observations
29:27about the world around us,
29:29but with a far more blunt,
29:30mature perspective.
29:32Sometimes,
29:32the truth is darn funny.
29:34The new word for the day
29:36is pain.

29:58Come to me

30:01Without your love
30:02I'm not the same
30:04I want you near
30:05I want you now
30:06I'd die for you
30:09I'd make that vow

30:13Celebrity Jeopardy
30:15Parodying Jeopardy
30:16And welcome back
30:18to Celebrity Jeopardy!
30:19This recurring sketch
30:20on SNL targets
30:21the long-running
30:22brain-puzzling game show
30:23Jeopardy!
30:24And with numerous versions
30:25of the scenario
30:26over the years,
30:26it's hard to pick
30:28the absolute funniest.
30:29There have been
30:30several notable appearances
30:31of celebrities
30:32portraying other celebrities
30:33in a variety
30:34of outlandish skits.
30:35For our money,
30:36Will Ferrell playing
30:37the host Alex Trebek
30:38in a hilarious conversation
30:39with comedian
30:40Daryl Hammond's
30:41Sean Connery impersonation
30:42was one for the
30:43all-time comedy record books.
30:44Would it be alright
30:45if I picked
30:46the next category?
30:48Well, that depends, Sean.
30:50Are you going to
30:51take the game seriously?
30:52Indeed I will.
30:54This twist on
30:54the classic game show
30:55is definitely
30:56one of SNL's best
30:57and that's not even
30:58mentioning their
30:58black Jeopardy!
31:00variant of the spoof.
31:00They out here saying
31:01this movie doesn't
31:02deserve an Oscar.
